August 27, 201114 yr The FCOM doesnt say anything regarding usage of custom waypoints to furthur create a custom waypoint.PAE -> 120/5 PAE01 okPAE01 -> 120/5 apparently unable to be done.I think that is what the OP was asking about. About the multiple discontinuities created by line selecting a custom waypoint up, I found a working method but I am not sure if that is how the real plane works. TIGERPAE01CLOWN if you line select PAE01 up, you get,PAE02 (exactly the same as PAE01)[][][][][]PAE01CLOWN,,,,,,,use delete on PAE01,PAE02[][][][][]CLOWN,,,,,,,,,,,,,close it,PAE02CLOWN Marcus JianSo outside of the argument of who has got more stripes(you both have to do as I say anyhow) This suggestion above works for creating multiple user waypoints such as when making a dme arc, and then want to move one up, but is it what should really be the case, surely selecting it I should be able to just move it up to the active waypoint and not create a discontinue? Regards James Carr
August 27, 201114 yr I have no idea about that. But if there are a bunch of custom waypoints you got a lot of random closing to do.egAAAAACUSTOM1CUSTOM2CUSTOM3 CUSTOM4[][][][][]CUSTOM1CUSTOM2CUSTOM3 CUSTOM4[][][][][]CUSTOM2CUSTOM3 CUSTOM4CUSTOM5[][][][][]CUSTOm2CUSTOM3 and so on. RYR738, I think you misunderstand what circletoland is talking. Your method doesnt fit his requirements. What he wants is creating a bearing/distance from the custom waypoint.OEM (1st waypoint)you want to fly bearing 120 distance 5., so OEM120/5 -> OEM01now from OEM01 , you want to fly bearing 180 distance 5, with respect to OEM01.You will need "OEM01 180/5" which isnt able to be entered as far as I know. Your method to find OEM02 will be typing OEM150/8.66 , because your doing with respect to OEM, not OEM01,Offhand, "fly bearing 120 distance 5. then fly bearing 180 distance 5" how is the pilot supposed to come up with OEM150/8.66 Marcus Jian
August 27, 201114 yr Author You will need "OEM01 180/5" which isnt able to be entered as far as I know. Marcus Jian Exactly that´s what I´m talking about. Since I am on the Boeing 737-700/800 (May 2007) it is possible to create waypoints like this.. maybe in earlier day´s it wasen´t... Correct format is OEM01180/5 You will get OEM02. With this one you can continue to create bearing/distance waypoints OEM02 OEM03 OEM04...draw your track as you like... And if you select one of them, you will never see the formula again. You can put them into the fix page, check their lat/lon on the nav data page, if you press wpt you will see every "session waypoint" on the ND and so on.. Also you can create waypoints on the ref nav data page.
August 28, 201114 yr Author OEM/20 is an uncorrect entry.. I´m sorry for that, OEM/20 is possible, I just never used this option. I alway´s used OEM/-20 or OEM/+20 didn´t know you don´t need the "+".. However I was not talking about along track wpts.

August 28, 201114 yr So from what you'r saying, theres quite a bit of things the 737 can do regarding custom waypoints that the NGX cant.If in that case, it looks like the NGX isnt customwaypoint friendly. OEM01 , eg OEM/15 , OEM145/6 , OEM150/ASD090,WPT01, eg N1234.5E12345.6 cant use OEM01, WPT01,-to line select without creating a bunch of disconts-place in fix page-place in Nav data page-place in offset start/stop waypoint page-to further create other waypoints eg OEM01120/5 can you verify the real plane allows these?Marcus jIan
August 28, 201114 yr I see. Its a shame though, such waypoint manipulation would give the fmc much more flexibility to overcome other limitations like missing approaches or ARC app. Marcus
September 1, 201114 yr Author can you verify the real plane allows these?Marcus jIan I recorded a short video to demonstrate, what is possible in the real plane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiGQJQmEUhE
September 1, 201114 yr wow, the real FMC seems much better. Thanks your for input and taking the time to demonstrate. Marcus Jian
