August 23, 201114 yr Hi, what I manage to create are waypoints like XYZ/-3 or XYZ010/3. But I´m not able to create my map as I´m used to in the real ship. For instance when I fly a visual approach to RWY 27. I create a point RW27/-3 which is called RW001 by the FMS. Now I select RW001 again but RW27/-3 is shown in the scratchpad instead of RW001. I would like to create the next point RW001180/3 -< not possible. In the real aircraft I get the next point RW002 using this technique.. Do I have a wrong configuration? Are this kind of user wayoints not possible? Thanks for your help! Cheers,Berni
August 25, 201114 yr Yes I had some issues with user created waypoints, you cant lineselect them up either if you want to move one to the top - it produces discontinues. Regards James Carr
August 25, 201114 yr I also noticed if you trying closing them up after you have a string of them, it creates new waypoints instead of closing the flt plan and as James said, creates discontinuities!! You line select the waypoint and add a / and distance to it and then up-select it to the same place. There are no discontinuities with along track waypoints. Frederic Steiner.
August 26, 201114 yr An example ! Lets say your next waypoint on the legs page is OEM. Down select OEM to the scratpad and change it to OEM/-10. Up select that to the same place (OEM) and it will make a new waypointcalled OEM001 10 miles before OEM. No need to use a + sign for positive values. ( eg......OEM/20 )20 miles after OEM Fred. August 26, 201114 yr Author Thats what I said,"what I manage to create are waypoints like OEM/-3 or OEM010/3" No problem with that! It creates new points like oe001. But now line select this point... suprise.. you get back OEM/-3 witch is not correct modeled. In the real aircraft you would see oe001 with wich you can continue to create points like OE001/-3 -> creates oe002, line select oe002 and continue with oe002360/3 etc. etc.. nice to create you route... but until now not correct modeled by pmdg.

August 27, 201114 yr The FCOM doesnt say anything regarding usage of custom waypoints to furthur create a custom waypoint.PAE -> 120/5 PAE01 okPAE01 -> 120/5 apparently unable to be done.I think that is what the OP was asking about. About the multiple discontinuities created by line selecting a custom waypoint up, I found a working method but I am not sure if that is how the real plane works. TIGERPAE01CLOWN if you line select PAE01 up, you get,PAE02 (exactly the same as PAE01)[][][][][]PAE01CLOWN,,,,,,,use delete on PAE01,PAE02[][][][][]CLOWN,,,,,,,,,,,,,close it,PAE02CLOWN Marcus Jian
August 27, 201114 yr See FCOM Vol 2 page 870 !! He wants the new point on the scratchpad, not the formula for the new point. Omar Josef 737/757/767
August 27, 201114 yr Author So is these two issues a possible bug then?Whatever, but it´s not like in the real aircraft. Every single waypoint you create ist stored in a temporary memory until flight completion. I think this very important feature is not modeled by PMDG so far. Hope it is on the TODO list for the coming service packs! There are lots of tiny things wich are not correct, but this one is important.

OEM/20 is an uncorrect entry.. maybe better you stop trying to find answers in this topic, thank you.. (By the way, you should change you signature.. Retired 737NG pilot seems to be wrong..)

(By the way, you should change you signature.. A good read of the FCOM Vol 2.......Flight Management section should help. And yes I am a retired KLM/Ryanair Captain. Fred. Frederic Steiner.
