August 25, 201114 yr I know this isn't a hardware question but this forum is fast at providing answers in regards to performance. In order for fsx not to be disturbed by the anti-virus, I was advised to turn it off while fsx is running. Does this mean just disabling the Resident Shield or the whole thing? My anti-virus allows me to disable the RS until I reboot manually, but it only allows me to disable all protection for max 15 mins. August 25, 201114 yr You could exclude it from access scanning. It's called different in different AVs but it's the antivirus scan that runs when every file is accessed. September 18, 201114 yr Antivirus software takes a huge toll on FPS in FSX. Some antivirus programs are easier to disable or exclude active scanning then others. I personally run my FSX on a stand alone machine with only Avira which is easy to turn off before loading FSX up. Get almost 20FPS more when it is not running. Ken EhlersF70
