August 27, 201114 yr I have noticed this once before with FSX and it happened again, this afternoon, at KBOS. I was attempting an ILS approach into KBOS in the PMDG NGX, I think it was runway 4R, and the ILS beam was not aligned properly with the direction of the runway. This brought me an at an incorrect angle to the runway and I had to go around and land manually. Not a big deal because I was able to see the runway this time and correct but I thought "what if this had been an autoland and the visibility was near zero"? This could have been a disaster! I do not think this has anything to do with the NGX because I have seen this before in another aircraft and the runway on the NGXs nav display was lined up perfectly. It appears to be a problem with the ILS data for FSX. Has anyone else seen this before and is there any fix for the problem?Tom
August 27, 201114 yr Have you tried the Flight 1 Registry Repair Tool? It's the first port of call for such problems. http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library Petraeus
August 27, 201114 yr It has to do with the difference in FMC navigation data and the magnetic variance of runways in FSX. This means our runways will always look off when landing because FSX uses magnetic values from 2005 and e.g Navigraph AIRAC nav data uses the latest realworld data. There's a file which correct this problem to some extent. It will allow you to update FSX magnetic database to 2010 values and thus eliminate offset runways. However read the readme carefully and be advised that default bgl's are changed so back up!The file is here: http://hsors.pagesperso-orange.fr/index.html
August 27, 201114 yr Some runways have offset ILS intentionally in the real world. I noticed it at 30L STL a long time ago in FSX. Do a search for *offset ILS* and you'll find many threads on it.
