HUGS AIII not engaging automatically - a mystery ...

Featured Replies

Haven't had a single issue with NGX except pure joy and educational experience ... now a HUGS mystery. Two approaches into LIBR [LIMLLIBR], all going just fine until short final when I would have expected AIII mode to kick in on the HUGS. But never did. It clearly works for other people, so what am I doing wrong here please? Here are the setup summaries: In both cases: - Both NAV radios set to same correct ILS frequency- Single CH approach in both case, i.e. just Captain's side CMD- Fully established on glideslope in each case- Both MCP Course indications identical and annunciated on PF PFD- Gear down- Landing flaps extended as per FMC input etc.- HUGS control panel set up during descent according to Manuals, AIII Arm showing up in Standby (first case: PRI with AIII Arm; second case: IMC with AIII Arm)- AIII Auto Engage YES in PMDG setup Results: First case: AIII Armed on HUGS but never kicked inSecond case: AIII Armed not on HUGS and never kicked in. Just showed "IMC" all the way down The only thing I didn't consciously do was align the MCP HDG to match the two Courses, but didn't think that was necessary according to the manuals. Any advice or shared experiences would be much appreciated! Best wishes, David

Don't you need both CMD's?

AIII is not an autoland, although they can be used together.
