LFMN / Too low terrain, pull up !

Featured Replies

Hi all, We'll not speak about hotfix, bug. Just a technical question.most for people knowing the specific LFMN area. (Otherwise go to this link for the maps) Last night I made a EHEH/LFMN flight. LFMN approached cleared me for a VOR A / ILS rwy 04L, meaning you make a 3/4 of a circle over the sea, and on final you got the mountains to your left, airport being at sea level. Approaching 3000ft, on base right hand, the GPWS gave a loud "terrain, terrain, pull up", with yelow and red colors showing the peaks of terrain around. Questions: - some parts of the terrain were red ahead, but it still was the sea, mountains were yellow around ? strange colors code ?- why did the red alert "pull up" remained lit until I reached the ground ? You may all try this approach on Nice (LFMN), and don't use the AP, go for a visual from downwind. You will have the "terrain" Christmas tree as a free gift from PMDG :) Cheers,

I hear Precision Manuals Flight Group makes nice planes no? LMAO.gif There is a well known bug to the TERR map, it shows stuff that aren't there, I'm not sure on what the ultimate fix is, if I do find it I'll report back.

I had the exact same problem approaching LFMN, but hotfix 3 fixed the problem for me.Graeme

Thanks Graeme. I'm still with no hotfix, waiting for SP1. I thought I was doing something wrong or unable to understand the terrain alert .............

Trust me get the hotfix, it's almost considered mandatory. It helped us so much.
This fix should be considered mandatory for all users.

Emmanuel,I saw you flying down on VATSIM I think, I was behind you, coming down from Copenhagen.I got cleared for the same approach, and had no problems with the GPWS, running with hotfix3.Cheers,Chris

I have the Aerosoft LFMN nice scenery but I have never had the problem you describe mainly cause I am flying a Star then capturing the LOC and then hand flying the final 5 nm. If you do not have a proper approach programmed into the FMC would it not be normal for the Terrain to warn you that there is danger in the area under those circumstances? The plane does not know what your going to do if your doing a full manual approach approach, and as soon as you start pointing the aircraft towards the mountains it's warning you that your to low to clear them? But I guess it is like they said above with the HotFix 3. Maybe that is why I don't see it. I did a full install of the NGX with the latest installer that has HotFix 1 2 3 included.
