45 knots at gate?

Recommended Posts

My speed tape reads 45 knts parked at the gate. It doesn't FEEL like I'm moving, but... Any thoughts? Thanks,Mark

It shows 45 knots minimum at all times because when the wind blows and it goes down to 0, it might be jumping up and down with the gusts, this way it doesn't jump on the ground and doesn't distract pilots.

In addition, do have a look at your ground speed (provided by the IRS instead of pitot-tubes), it should read 0 when docked at the gate. Ground speed display is also handy during taxi to avoid speeding tickets.
