  1. Hi allSeveral member have pointed out that one may as well just reinstall the NGX as opposed to updating. I went to retrieve my previous orders of the 8/900 and the 6/700 and I found that my order URL has expired. I assume that if I want to redownload the NGX installers I now require an extended download service (at cost)If so, I think I might just use the updates (which I know will work perfectly) and save a few penniesWhat do you guys think?CheersPaul Kent
  2. fairly sure that downloaded software cannot be refunded. Also I run the NGX fine (in FSX default scenery) with a 2.4GHz core2duo, 2MB RAM and an old 1GB nVidia graphics card. I run that on XP 32bit. The release version was fine, the first hotfix was fine and the second hotfix was fine. It must be your system. I hope that you do get the NGX to work either will SP1 or with other future updates, but dont hold your breath for the refund.
  3. Hi all.I'm looking for some advice as to which private jet you think is best in FSX. I'm looking for good systems, flight dynamics etc.I love the ngx, the real air duke and would a nippy wee private jet to buzz around the skies in. I have heard eaglesoft are good??Thanks, paul
  4. you can press APP before even capturing the LOC. Not sure if you are meant to but it does work. You might be in HDG SEL or LNAV and VNAV PTH or ALT HOLD and under this when pressing APP you will have LOC and G/S modes in white, meaning that they are armed, and become active once you are close to the extended centreline and glideslope
  5. And...When you wish your car was RNAV equipped and had an FMC/CDU for navigation instead of boring old GPS
  6. ...when you drive your car with one hand on the side of the steering wheel and the other on the gear stick because it would be irresponsible to remove your hand from the 'thrust levers' whilst acting as Pilot Flying.Which is exactly how I drive :)Also...When you refer to driving the minor roads before getting on the highway as the 'taxi out' and then request the before take off checklist whilst on the 'on ramp'
  7. this is an interesting topic, especially for a physicist (by degree) like myself. Those explanations seem pretty good to me. Its important to stress, that an unbalanced force will cause an acceleration. Even in a steady climb there is no acceleration, so W=L and T=D. Its like circular motion at constant speed.....despite speed remaining constant there is a change of direction and hence a change in velocity, hence there must be an acceleration. if an engine produces 20,000lb of thrust then it produces 20000/2.2*9.8N of force 89,000N. Now newtons second law states that the Force is equal to the rate of change of momentum (mv) which assuming the mass is constant (reasonable) reduces to F=ma. The F of course is the unbalanced force. But of course there is friction initially between the tyres and tarmac. This is the static friction. Wikipedia states that the coefficient of static friction is 1 for dry tarmac on rubber, so the static friction on an aircraft weighing 9.1T would be F_static=c*mg=1*9100*9.8. This gives a static friction of 89000N. In this case the unbalanced force is (thrust-friction) is zero and there will be no acceleration. In space, in the absence of friction the acceleration would be Thrust/mass=89000/9100=9.8m/s2, or 1g Since an aircraft would have two engines, the thrust would be 178,000N. With the friction of 89000N the acceleration would be 89000/9100=9.8m/s2 or 1g So we can think of thrust as the force required to accelerate a mass at 1g in the absence of friction. So a 20K lb engine can move a 20k lb aircraft at an acceleration of 1g with no friction hope that helps paul
  8. yep, I also taxi solely by looking at GS
  9. speedtape doesnt read zero when stationary. It is only alive at >45 kts
  10. NO NEED TO SHOUT yeah I hear it as a one toned chime also, but since the sounds are recorded from the actual NG i assume that what I hear is accurate. Perhaps the two tone chime is one heard as a single tone from within the flightdeck.
  11. i wouldnt go above OPT. Try FL350, going higher than this and climb will be slow. This means a longer time at a higher thrust setting than CRZ which costs fuel/money.
  12. so you have been asked to help with enforcing policy whilst they are busy?
