September 3, 201114 yr Was at TNCM earlier, taxing to the runway when I realized because I was in a hurry I was still running the APU BUS and like an idiot I flipped the APU switch to off before transfering the APU BUS over to the Generator BUS. Also I should have left the APU on anyway because it was an ETOPs flight and just switched the BUS's and closed the APU Bleed. Naturally now when I flipped the switch to turn the APU off without transferring the BUS's the aircraft went to battery power. When this happened my FPS nose dived from 27 fps down to 0.8 fps and I was no longer able to do anything at that frame rate. Only thing I could do was load my last save at the gate and start again. This has happened to me more than once when fooling around with the APU and not setting something correctly and then when the Aircraft goes to battery power there is either a massive FPS hit or the mouse cursor changes and you can not select anything anymore. When I started at the gate again I noticed the Zone Temp Warning light was on for the CAB. Had to use the Trip Reset Button on the Overhead to clear it. Paul Deemer
September 3, 201114 yr Ryan said in an earlier thread that the frame drop was caused by the sim recalculating your position, It happened to me too, but it goes away after the position is recalculated. He also said that it's fixed for SP1.
September 3, 201114 yr Author So what your saying is when I went from APU power to Battery Power then Generator Power it was recalculating my position again and hence the FPS Drop? Paul Deemer
September 3, 201114 yr So what your saying is when I went from APU power to Battery Power then Generator Power it was recalculating my position again and hence the FPS Drop? Yeah, and I reckon it was recalculating because you lost power for a second, right?
September 3, 201114 yr Author Yeah, and I reckon it was recalculating because you lost power for a second, right? Correct Paul Deemer
September 4, 201114 yr Just after a few flights I now realize that this is culprit to all FPS problems around. There is a "gremlin" in IRS systems, because it is the only thing that whenever turned on, shoots down FPS to really low values, like 15 FPS, in the air. The battery problem mentions that it's recalculating when power is lost. But what does it do in the air? Recalculating constantly right? Well I think this is why my frames have been so horrible from the beginning, and I AM VERY GLAD that this will be addressed in SP1! Till then I think that a 747 round the world is due.
