Joystick calibration in PT Il-62M.

Featured Replies

Hi, Using the Joystick service device, I can calibrate, reverse give proper input to sensitivity etc. And it appearently works after I have saved each control channel using the covered no. 10 botton as described in the manual. But after I have closed the sim and reopened the sim, it has forgotten everything! And there is no Joy.cfg or Joy folder either in the Gauges/IL62_cfg as well? What is wrong here? Does FSUIPC affect the IL-62M calibration device? BR,Anders

On the PT Joystick service device - Did you click properly the save button after making all your changes? Its closed with a cap - open it with the right mouse button. Also did you disable the FS9 joystick with 'CTRL-K' first. Do you have a folder: ........Gauges\IL62_cfg\Joy\Joy.cfg If not, add folder JOY in there (Gauges\IL62_cfg) and grab the Joy.cfg from either the PT Tu-154B2 or Tu-154M (if you have those installed) and copy and paste in the newly created IL62_cfg/Joy folder. Then do your calibrations again through the IL-62M joystick set-up panel (you won't need to calibrate all, some settings will be the same as the other PT planes and will be there already as you've copied their joy.cfg - hat switch settings for example) - not forgetting CTRL-K first and the save button. That will work and save your joystick settings for sure. It may also just work if you add folder JOY and then hopefully the joystick utility will add the .cfg file in there when you save your settings. But I'm not sure. Alternatively re-install the PT IL-62M. I haven't had any problems with FSUIPC and the PT joystick calibration device. I strongly recommend asking any PT questions on their forums:http://www.protu-154.net/forum/you'd get the best support for all PT planes there. their English support forums:http://www.protu-154...0da1e22acf9933a and the PT IL-62 Support forum (in English):http://www.protu-154...0da1e22acf9933a

Hi Momtchil, Thank you very much for your thorough reply - as always! As it turned out, my installation did not include the JOY folder in the IL62_CFG folder. Hence, I just copied the JOY folder from the TU-154_CFG folder and pasted it into the IL62_CFG folder. And "voila"; now it saved the settings in the Joystick service device! Thanks again - I will join the PT forum soon. Best Regards,Anders

No problem. I'm glad its working ok now.

Hi Momtchil,I also have a strange issue with PT Tu-154M joystick calibration through the operating system. In my previous system, I had calibrated it, but a glitch had appeared : My CH products yokehad lost the rear, rear left & rear right "hat" views. I reported it to PT support forum and they had acceptedthat this happens, but they had no intension to solve it.These days I am setting up a new, more powerful system. To my surprise the issue remains, even thoughI have not yet installed any PT addon. I still can't use the above mentioned views !Could that be possible ?Could that previous system calibration have damaged the hardware ?Or this could be owed to the re-use of the old FS9.cfg ? Does it carry the calibration values and write them to, say, in the registry ?Thanks for your time,Sotiris.

If you haven't installed any PT planes yet - then it seems unlikely the problem is related to the PT Joystick service device.I don't think there is any way the PT Joystick service device can damage your hardware (I just don't see how that's possible), and it doesn't write any settings in the registry. It saves its settings in its own folder and reads inputs directly from the device through DirectInput. It doesn't change anything anywhere, apart from recording your calibration settings in it's own .cfg file.It sounds like you are having issues with the hat switch on your CH yoke (or its calibration) - does it work OK in other simulators?

Since we are certain that it doesn't write to registry, then it's a hat problem, as it doesn't work in FS8 as well.Thank you Momtchil.Sotiris.
