Duplicate set of runways

Recommended Posts

Airport Shoreham. UK . EGKA. GA flyer using Radar Contact and FSC FSC shows distinct twin sets three rwys roughly triuangularly placed butwith two sets slightly different headings. With flight plane loaded and ground control announcing the allocated runwayI have to change to runway 03 because that is the only one noted in the RClist. Is it me or a glitch? regards Wiggins

I suspect it's a glitch caused by possible duplicate afcads - which app is correct is unknown to me. DJ

Be sure you have installed the latest makerwys.exe from the link posted at the forum top. Today it is 4.50. After installing it in your FS folder, run the scenery rebuild again from within RC if on the same pc as fs. You also should have updated fsuipc from those links if a new installation. Once you are done running RC's scenery rebuild in your RC\data folder make a backup copy of r4.csv. Now do not modify the following instructions. We are going to view r4.csv but first check its date-time stamps to insure it is your latest rebuild update. Right click on r4.csv then click properties and see if the date is your scenery rebuild date. Now do not save anything as we go along. Right click on r4.csv and open with wordpad or word. Do not open in Excel. Search for EGKA. See how many runway lines there are. Here is the default scenery list from an afd utility: 13/31 should be excluded in your r4.csv file because by default runways shorter than 1500 feet are excluded in version 4.50 of makerwys. Earlier versions may have had higher exclusion lengths. This was done at the time to exclude those added fake short runways created to implement the 'crosswind runway' technique to make FS see non-parallel runways as simultaneously parallel and active. At the time this technique was implemented it was thought slightly shorter runways were OK to use as pseudo runways. There may be other conditions to exclude those runways for not being suitable. If you are using an add-on scenery with different characteristics we would have to know some things about it. Sometimes they are placed in the scenery for looks but certain things are done to prevent ai from using them and which also might fail the criteria for RC to see them as suitable runways. Based on the FS9 default scenery and using makerwys 4.50 you should see six lines in the r4.csv file for EGKA. mine for the default scenery are: EGKA,0030,50.831337,-0.299947,7,24.580,3383,0,59,-3.000,50.835651,-0.297244,551,,EGKA,0032,50.833393,-0.297720,7,24.580,2297,0,100,-3.000,50.836323,-0.295886,0,,EGKA,0070,50.832642,-0.300086,7,66.490,2926,0,164,-3.000,50.834435,-0.294400,0,,EGKA,0210,50.839966,-0.294542,7,204.580,3383,0,59,-3.000,50.835651,-0.297244,344,,EGKA,0211,50.839252,-0.294051,7,204.580,2297,0,100,-3.000,50.836323,-0.295886,0,,EGKA,0250,50.836227,-0.288714,7,246.490,2926,0,164,-3.000,50.834435,-0.294400,328,, which translates to 3/21, 3R/21L, 7/25. 13/31 was too short to make the list. I've italicized the runway lengths in the r4.csv lines. Again, an add-on scenery might produce different results. Be sure to close your viewing word processor without saving anything.

The 4.50 version of makerwys runs with both FSX and FS9. For performance reasons and other issues you should update to FSUIPC4.727 from here:http://forum.simflig...pdated-modules/ and to get makerwys go here:http://forum.simflig...ional-programs/ Installation updates use the same procedure, just your FSX folder instead of FS9 and of course your FSX path will be different. If not already so, set up your shortcut to RC to run as admin in its properties. That is a program level, not a user level. I also recommend checking your registry path for FSX with this free registry check/repair utility here:http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library and right click on that to run as admin.
