January 13, 200422 yr There is an awsome new F-14 in gmax made by Dino Cattaneo (and others) available at Flightsim.com. It has a dynamic VC and has 3 great liveries. It features sweeping wings and LE/flap animaions as well as a host of other animations and effects. The model is rally detailed and features AIM-9s, AIM-7s and AIM-54s along with fuel tanks. This thing is a blast to fly and it has the "super spoiler", so you can do landings on aircraft carriers. This thing is lots of fun with Richard Hogen's carr2004!Hint for carrier traps: use the autospoiler (shift + /)...the "B" indicator light to the right of the HUD will turn red. You will then be good-to-go when you trap because the superspoiler will work as soon as your wheels touch the deck.File name is: f14bfs9a.zip Here is a screen shot of the Tomcat ready for launch:REMOVE_http://bstockwell.net/images/f14.JPG

January 13, 200422 yr Very nice. And it works with FS2002. I had some problems with the older model swaying and shaking on ILS approaches and that seems to have been fixed in this model.
January 13, 200422 yr Yeah....GF4MX on a 1.2 Athlon...Mine is not the greatest rig. I also just did a screen shot and cut/pasted/cropped in MS Paint real quick to get it up.Edit: don't judge the package based on my screen shot....I do not want to screw the author and not have anybody download his work because of my lousy rig. The opposite was my intention: drawing people's attention o a nice aircraft package and complimenting the author on his (their) work.
January 13, 200422 yr Author It is a nice jet! I think the large file size will detour more than any blurry textures, but after seeing it, the textures are nice (a bit blue for me), and she flies great and the VC is really nice! I insttalled it on my 1 gig design pc and it flies great, no framerate hit at all. Thanks for the heads up!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
February 19, 200422 yr Nice plane ! If you don't want the super spoilers, read the read me file on how to change them back to "normal". Download this F-18 panel "f18car04.zip", it has some cool gauges it it. A cat launch and a arrestor hook gauge. They work awesome. You can set the air speed to 300 and hang on. It's cool! It traps like the real thing. It puts your hook down for you and stops you better than the super spoilers, plus it has sounds. Have fun. The 14's are just a bit too blue. Never seen one that color.Jammer8401
February 20, 200422 yr There are some repaints floating around that are just grey in color and seem to come off much better, I have to admit the blue color turned me off at first but I have seen a few images of the real aircraft that are pretty close to that blue. I openned up the texture files on this plane and desaturated the color a bit and that seemed to help. I love that new F-14 panel by John J Schumacher, It's the best combonation I have found so far.Best regards,Jan
February 21, 200422 yr Yes I agree John's panel is very nice; however, it is easier to pull teeth than it is to get help from him! Hope he isn't in customer service business...I installed his panel per README and still can't get his panel RIO to work! Clicking on the icon at bottom left (or shift + 3) crashes the sim. I use the latest FSUIPC and have no issues with other add-ons.Dino's F14B is a really great piece of art work! It is very detailed and looks realistic. I hope that someone can create a realistic FDE that can handle the autopilot better!David
February 21, 200422 yr David,I've poked at this problem a little, but haven't been able to reproduce it. On one occasion I thought I had, as the sim wasn't doing anything. Pressing Alt-Enter to switch to windowed mode seemed to make the problem go away however. Is your copy of FSUIPC registered? If it is, then none of this has anything to do with FSUIPC. If however, you are using an unregistered version, then it may be an accreditation issue and I will need to do some testing. The XML_sound, catapult and arrester gauges accredit themselves with FSUIPC, while Eric's radar gauge does not.If you don't have any luck, drop me an e-mail. My address is in the rcbco-11.txt file in John's package.Doug Dawson
