January 14, 200422 yr Hi guys, Have a look below. I am experiencing a very abnormal effect lately, since I downloaded Chris's fantastic FSW cloud fix for FS9. I did not have this effect with my sky before the fix and I have never had any problems with Chris's work. As you can see from the attachments there is this rectangular white or grey patch hanging in, above or around the clouds. Now the clouds look great so I really don't think this is a result of using Chris's files. There seems to be a patch looming in the high skies. I was wondering if I was maybe missing some essential texture files that I may have inadvertently deleted in my never ending quest to tweak the sim...LOL. Has anyone else realized the same effect or similar? Could it be avideo card issue? I have the latest drivers (53.03) for my Nvidia Ti4200 card. I also use FS Genesis scenery, but that would not affect the sky. I use FSMeteo which could be the culprit, but I also tested it with FS9 generated weather and was able to duplicate the problem. So I'm stumped, don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.Regards,Tom Stewart i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
January 14, 200422 yr It looks as is you're missing some cirrus cloud textures. I doubt it's a card issue, since you don't seem to be having trouble displaying any of the other clouds. I'd look in your fs9/texture/ folder for textures starting with the name "cirrus_" -- in looking through mine, I've got 16 of them. If you don't, then you might have to find them on the installer disk and copy them. If you do have them, check them in ImageTool and make sure they're not corrupted somehow. That's my guess, anyway.Good luck!
January 14, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi, Just reinstall the 32 bits clouds. they appears missed.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
January 14, 200422 yr Author Thanks for the replies Bill & Chris. BTW Iwas using all of the dxt3 files for those screen shots.Bill, You say you have 16 'cirrus" cloud files in FS9? I count 5 (_broken,_few,_overcast,_overcast03, _scattered) which are the five Chris provided for his 32 bit "Higher Performance". You must be referring to the "dxt3" files for cirrus. Then there was the cumulus01 file which I have, but for the 32 bit version.I did have the dxt3 installed but I removed then and replaced with the "High performance" 32 bit clouds from Chris. I thought this would correct the problem but didn't so I want to put the dxt3 back since they were not the problem. So Chris, here is an inventory of what I have right now in my texture folder for FS9. If you could confirm what I might be missing, it would be greatly appreciated:5 Cirrus files: _broken,_few,_overcast,_overcast03, _scattered (all 32 bit HP)8 cumulonimbus: _broken, _broken_above, _few, _few_above, _o/c, _o/c_above, _scatterred, _scaterred_above9 cumulus: _cumulus01 (32 bitHP), _broken, _broken_above, _few, _few_above, _o/c, _o/c_above, _scatterred, _scaterred_aboveRegards,Tom Stewart i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
January 14, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi, You have removed many cirrus in the fs2004texture, in the 32 bits version there is only few resized texture cirrus because the others are not needed to resize. Backup always the default before. Anyways just reinstall the default clouds from Ms back from the cd2 MSGAME3.CAB and resinstall the cumulus01 from fsw, all will works. 16 cirrus: cirrus_broken01.bmpcirrus_broken02.bmpcirrus_broken03.bmpcirrus_broken.bmpcirrus_few01.bmpcirrus_few02.bmpcirrus_few03.bmpcirrus_few.bmpcirrus_scattered.bmpcirrus_scattered02.bmpcirrus_scattered03.bmpcirrus_scattered04.bmpcirrus_overcast.bmpcirrus_overcast01.bmpcirrus_overcast02.bmpcirrus_overcast03.bmpThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
January 14, 200422 yr Author Thank you very, very much Chris, Bill!! I can now see that even with installing the dxt3 files I was still missing 2 important cirrus files, cirrus_broken2 & overcast_broken2. I now understand. That's what the big white blotch in the sky was, FS9 tyring to draw the broken clouds with no bitmaps to use, namely the 2 files above. Many thanks again for your kind help, I'm happy as pig in 'you know what'Tom Stewart i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
