FSX won't boot

Featured Replies

OK then, i will contact ORBX first though because i just find it a little funny for it to be working fine then install the SP4 and it fails to startup. It has to be an ORBX thing.
Uh, Andrew, this is the first time you mentioned this thing about SP4 occurred (in this thread). I agree, it has to be an ORBX thing. Have you tried uninstalling SP4? Once it is uninstalled, see if you can boot up. A lot of people forget, when upgrading PNW stuff, they need to change the Orbx/FTX Configurator to North America then install the updates. You can also try reinstalling SP4 after you do this AND make sure UAC and any anti-virus program is disabled. Best regards,Jim

No problem. I'm learning new things just answering your questions! LOL.gif Okay. You cannot just uninstall Sp4. You have to uninstall PNW as there is no option in the Add/Remove Programs to just remove SP4. To uninstall first open FTX Central and make sure scenery is set to Default. Click Apply and close. Now uninstall PNW by clicking on the Start button, All Programs, then scroll down to Orbx. There will be an option to uninstall "FTX AU Blue". Do this. SP4 is uninstalled when you uninstall this program. Now run FSX and see if you can now boot up to the FSX opening screen. If you can, then it surely was FTX AU Blue (PNW) that was causing your problem(s). If not, then there's another issue. Now you can reinstall FTX AU Blue. Once installed, open up the FTX Central and select North America, click apply and close. Start up FSX and go to the opening screen. If all goes well and FSX started up okay, you are now ready to install SP4. SP4 is a culmulative upgrade which means you do not have to install all the previous SP's. Install only SP4. That's it! You'll also want to install the latest Orbx Library that includes people and other objects but that has to be the last thing. I hope this solves this issue. Best regards,Jim

I'll try that, good to see we are both learning. I should mention that i only have the Australian addons and the australian blue. I hope this wont change the process too much.

Andrew, this is important, did you install the object libaries after SP4. Part of this update updates FTX central. You must do this after installing any SP's for Orbx products. The libaries are updated on a regular basis. If you have done this, then disregard.

No I haven't, where can I find them. My worry is that i have fiddled with so much that it may just not work even if all the ORBX is up to date.

That is why you are having problems then. Where you downloaded SP4, is where the object libaries are.

Sorry guys, didn't work. I am thinking that a re-install may be the best way but honestly, I feel I have just lost the urge to bother. Sorry it did not work Andrew. Having installed and run FTX SP4 without OB libaries may have caused your issue, I can never say 100% though, that would be folly. But go to the FTX forum and follow the correct procedure when installing anything Orbx, and when dealing with FTX central. You may end up staying in this eternal loop if you don't start again.
