September 17, 201114 yr Hi,I'm looking for some advice on how this setup would be to play FSX on? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Ryan -Ryan
September 17, 201114 yr That is a very good system but, where and what will be your GPU. If you need that then go for a GTX 560 Ti or GTX 570 (both look to be in your budget). Your one of the only people on these forums that actually chose a i5 2500k over the i7, very smart person. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. September 18, 201114 yr Fine as is but to improve it add a video card. You do not need 2133 memory your choice but I would stick with 1600 1.5v-1.6v I like these http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231459Do not install Norton! Buy a gould program like NOD32. Norton is a hog of resources and you will never get it uninstalled if you wanted to, it embedds itself. You could do better on the cooler save a couple of bucks and don't buy the thermal paste and use the paste that comes with this: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835608020 Regards,Gary Andersen HAF932 Advanced, ASUS Z690-P D4, i5-12600k @4.9,NH-C14S, 2x8GB DDR4 3600, RM850x PSU,Sata DVD, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB storage, W10-Pro on Intel 750 AIC 800GB PCI-Express,MSI RTX3070 LHR 8GB, AW2720HF, VS238, Card Reader, SMT750 UPS.
September 18, 201114 yr I find Norton very good. I have trend on my build at the moment but I will be putting Norton on next month probably. Have it on 3 of the 5 PCs and never had a problem. (No idea whats on the MacBook) Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
September 18, 201114 yr Author A video card would be helpful! Would this be the right one? http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814125363 I have been doing a bit of research here on the forums about other peoples builds so thats how I knew to stick with the i5 2500k. I find Norton very good. I have trend on my build at the moment but I will be putting Norton on next month probably. Have it on 3 of the 5 PCs and never had a problem. (No idea whats on the MacBook) I didn't even add it but I guess it comes free with my purchase of the i5 so I'll take it! -Ryan
September 18, 201114 yr Yes, that video card would be good. Others to consider would be EVGA or ASUS. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

September 18, 201114 yr Good list. Please for the sake of humanity, don't install Norton lol! Go with ESET or something...http://www.eset.com/us/home/products/antivirus/ Or nothing, like me lol | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 18, 201114 yr Good list. Please for the sake of humanity, don't install Norton lol! Go with ESET or something...http://www.eset.com/...ucts/antivirus/ Or nothing, like me lol +1I would rather deal with the virus than deal with Norton. Wiped my whole OS out trying to uninstall that train wreck. Mcafee isn't any better. I would run something though, even the free MS one is better than nothing. Then again I go a lot of places a person under the age of 18 should not go. I keep Eset busy! September 18, 201114 yr As Gary and Ryan say, avoid Norton like the plague. Bloatware that makes your system run like its in treacle. Rest of it looks spot on P3D v4.5 MSFS2020 Hisense 50" 4K TV Ryzen 9600x 64gb DDR5 6000mhz, Asrock B650m HDV/M.2 Gigabyte 16gb 9070XT, Thermalright Aqua Elite 240mm 2TB NVMe Boot/FS2020 Drive, 2TB NVMe P3D Drive. September 18, 201114 yr Author Ok I pulled the trigger and ordered the parts. I will make sure to not install the Norton. Thanks for the help and advice! -Ryan
September 18, 201114 yr Author I forgot to ask about what operating system would be best for FSX? I also play some older games that require vista but I am not sure that they could run on anything newer? -Ryan
