January 15, 200422 yr I was wondering how much money ATP pilot makes in an hour? For example, Northwest 757 captain and co pilot. Thanks, Combat
January 15, 200422 yr ATP is just a rating so it doesn't always mean that they are an airline pilot. But on the good side of the scale a 757 Capt: $100,000+ and FO: $90,000.
January 15, 200422 yr Delta Airlines F/O, 757/767 pay (12 years seniority) is about 175$ per hour. Equates to about 150K a year. Captains here on same equipment make about 255$ per hour and make about 200-210K a year. MD88 Captain is 227$ an hour and its where Im headed in a month or so!! Only to take a paycut Im sure. Currently we are the highest paid in the industry, but it wont last long is my guess. We are negotiating at this time and a cut is likely. NW pilots are number two behind us but I dont know the scales there, not too far behind us I believe, they also are negotiating and likely going to get a cut too. Its all up in the air right now and the pressure is downward due to low cost airline pressure, the economy(last two years) and the effect of 9/11 on the industry. Its still a GREAT JOB.Hornit

January 15, 200422 yr Commuter airlines like Horizon don't pay very well. Once you get your ratings and your time then it starts to pay off, but it takes a long time to get to the point where you are making $50k to $100k a year.
January 15, 200422 yr Pilot fined $18,870 for obscene gesture 16.01.2004An American Airlines pilot was arrested at Sao Paulo International Airport after making an obscene gesture while being photographed by Brazilian immigration officers. The pilot, Dale Robin Hirsch, raised his middle finger at police while undergoing the security measures that require United States citizens to be fingerprinted and photographed upon entering Brazil. Relations between the two countries have been soured by Brazil's decision to implement its security measures from January 1, apparently in retaliation for a similar US programme to fingerprint and photograph visitors. Local media said the 52-year-old pilot was fined 36,000 reais ($18,870) and released, but his passport was confiscated until the fine was paid. American Airlines reportedly agreed to pay the fine. Hehehehe, you gotta love the narrow mindedness. It seems that what is expected for some is not neccessarily expected by others!

I was in hurry this morning which I wasn't fully awake to realize what I was doing. Again for those who replied, thank for answers as it sure helped. Thanks, Combat
January 16, 200422 yr I noticed that the big bucks were mentioned.... but don't forget the cost of getting there. Flying Cessna twins or Metro's for $17,000 USD a year, if your lucky. I work as a simulator tech for Flightsafety.... and have worked on the Metro, Jetstream and Dash 8 sims, those pilots work hard for very little cash. Skywest starts at their pilots in the EMB-120 and the CRJ-200 at approx 27K a year. But then again..... we ain't doing it soley for the money are we :)
January 16, 200422 yr I could think of worse jobs that only net you $17K a year. I know I'd rather slog it out as a reigonal pilot for a few years and wait for my chance to step up the big time. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
January 16, 200422 yr Working for Flightsafety I've had the chance to talk with hundreds of pilots, from the 777 guys to the Metroliner folk. Here at KSLC, a recent groundschool class was filled with United and Continental guys who had been flying the 757 and 767 and were now going thru the CRJ-200 sim for Skywest. Try going from 100K to 38K a year!Yes, flying is a great way to make a living, but listen, it's a volatile industry and the days of the secure 200K a year jobs are over. The pilots unions took care of the guys they had, but screwed the future generations of pilots not to mention the paying customer, somebody's got to pay those saleries.Of the thousands of commercial rated pilots, very, very few make over 60K a year. If ya love it, go for it. As for me..... I'll take my flying in the real world low and slow so I can enjoy the scenery.:)Dave
January 16, 200422 yr The most I ever heard was from an Iberian 747-300 pilot who was making $320,000 a year...yeah that's right $320,000 a year...can we say Kachiing!
