CDU (left) on second monitor and resized it

Recommended Posts

When I click on the CDU and than undock it, I can pull it to my second montor and it works ok. But, because the CDU is used very often and the information is importent , I want the CDU , let say, 1.5 times as big.But when I resize it with my mouse (draw the right edge), the CDU doesn't work anymore or even the windows is black. When I push the buttons nothing happens, but when I push the CDU back to my main monitor I can see that the CDU is still working.I use a Geforce GTX 470 with a Samsung 22" monitor 1650x1050 32 bits 60Hz (main monitor) and a Dell 19" monitor 1280x1024 32 bits 60 Hz (second monitor). What is the better way to resize the CDU?? If you use full screen, you don't have to undock it. Just pop up en take it (with the mouse) to the second monitor. Then you can (at least I can) resize it as much as i want. Hope this helps. Eric

I use FSX in windowed mode and when I resize it on the main screen and drag it over to the second screen I have the same problem. Werner

IMO, you have a setup or system problem...........Has it ever worked in the past or is this a new setup for you?Drag a windowed word processing or other program (application) to the 2nd monitor. Can you use the mouse and also edit the document?

This works fine on my system with 2 x 22'' monitors. In your FSX display settings you should have two different devices in the pull-down menu. Are both set to the correct screen resolution?

"But when I resize it with my mouse (draw the right edge), the CDU doesn't work anymore or even the windows is black." What fixed your original problem .. first post? On my system, in windowed mode, I can undock, and resize on both monitors anytime.

I'm having the exact same problem. I am unable to resize undocked windows if they are on secondary screens, they go black if I try - if I then move them back to the screen on which FSX is running/was started, they show up fine again. It doesn't happen with all aircraft, I haven't tried everything else yet but it definitely works ok on some aircraft but not the NGX. I've tried a reinstall of my nvidia drivers, a repair of FSX, changing what card is doing Physx (odd I know but someone said it fixed this for them, but it doesn't for me) and probably other stuff too that I can't remember. I'd love to get this fixed if anyone can help.

Finally I have cracked this incredibly annoying problem of black undocked panels when resized on second monitors tonight. Hopefully my solution works for someone else and can save them tearing their hair out. I read several threads on various forums where people had the same problem and had either not fixed it or had found another solution, so I guess the same symptoms can occur due to more than one cause, however this is definitely worth a try as after trying basically everything else possible I stumbled upon the following solution through a process of elimination. In fsx.cfg, set maximized=1 so that fsx starts in full screen. Then, after it loads a flight you can alt-enter to return to windowed and undock, move and resize panels as needed. After I've loaded a flight this way, I can even "end flight" on the menu, start a new flight which will start windowed (since exiting a flight windowed writes maximized=0 to the config file and further flights then start windowed) and it _still_ works, it seems it just has to be started maximized the first time. Whether this is FSX or the Nvidia drivers at fault I do not know, nor do I care now I finally have this fixed. If anyone else does this to fix it, bear in mind that unless you maximize fsx then exit or end a flight from that view, it will save maximized=0 to the fsx.cfg and the problem will come right back next time you start FSX. You either need to exit from fullscreen mode each time or have a configuration like mine where there are "master" fsx.cfg files which aren't written to and are used to generate the "actual" fsx.cfg each start (I used Orbx FSXGo which does this) so that you can set the option in the master cfg file so that it is re-set in the generated fsx.cfg every time FSX is started.I haven't tried whether or not having maximized=0 in the config but then maximizing and restoring back to a window before undocking anything works, but it might.
