whitepoint05 error : the return

Featured Replies

Hello there ! After having reinstalled and reactivated my RC4 on my brand new machine (I7 2600 + W7 french home ed.), I get the whitepoint05 error with an empty whitepoint05.wav in the Winwood 99 folder. If I erase the file, RC4 automatically creates another one, and if I replace it with a "good" one (not empty), RC4 doesn't work anyway. Any idea ? Thanks a lot by advance Henri R

Be sure your numbering system is set to US for numerical separation. Your Windows language may need to be set to English or US. See if that makes a difference. The whitepoint05.wav file is almost complete silence with a very small volume of noise as I look at it. It supposed to be there. All files in Winwood should be in place on most folders. Some may only have a .txt file without .wavs. In order to see exactly what is happening you may need to submit a log as outlined in the pinned topic describing the problem. In your move to Windows 7 you must insure that the first run installing RC was started with a right click on the .exe file setting the program level to run as admin. Now after installation you can set up a shortcut to it to run as admin at the program level. This is necessary during installation and running RC thereafter to insure it has access to FS status as it runs via FSUIPC messaging services. After install make sure you have updated FSUIPC from both links pinned at the forum top as some Win 7 items are included in the interim update. Similarly you need to update makerwys.exe and then run the scenery rebuild. Generally, for FS to talk back to RC you need also to run FS with its shortcut set to run as admin. Another test to insure you do not have a .wav playing problem is to bring up the voices window and click on the speaker symbol to play one of the voices. Before you do this select an airline and flight number to be used as a sample. Now if everything is OK RC should be starting (after registration) with the ability to access your defined path to load your flight plan. If that goes OK wait until FS is running with a loaded active flight, avionics on typically parked somewhere and your aircraft ready to go before you press that RC start button. If it is a still no-go, send in the log with your problem description included.

Hi JD and Ron ! Thank you for helping...Here's the problem : the whitepoint05.wav file seems to cause RC4 to crash when I first try to call ground, and I get a message telling me RC does'nt recognize empty .wav files (0 k) with an error 6.So I delete the wav file and relaunch RC4 with my flight plan (Stuttgart / Paris CDG) : I get the same error, and RC recreates an empty whitepoint wav file in the winwood 99 folder.Apart from this, my RC 4.3 is running OK (properly activated), FSUIPC is up to date (today's version is 4.733), all programs run as admin and I have Meatwater voicepack installed.I still have to try a bunch of other tests (rebuild database, try another flight, see if my RC for FS9 get the same error, ...) For now I'm at work and I'll come back to you when I have new informations. Thank you again for your kind assistance Henri R

If you PM me with your e-mail address, I'll send you the default whitepoint files for you to place in that 99 folder. It looks like maybe that whitepoint file downloaded from Meatwater perhaps did not uncompress correctly. I do have a non-zero wav file but Nick (Meatwater) might have put a different kind of noise in there. On the default the noise is pretty much buried with just a couple of low low level clicks. I think the whitepoint might stand for white noise, used for a shshshsh sound.

Hello there ! After having rebuilt my database and lauching RC4 for a simple flight plan, everything works OK again. Looks like RC4 has recreated a "good" whitepoint file by itself, so I don't try to fix anything else anymore ! Computers behave very strangely sometimes... Anyway, thanks for your support Henri R
