Yes you can. you will need to determine the .fx file used to create the light. Upon the aircraft.cfg file for the aircraft in question (look in your FSX/Simobjects/airplanes/{aircraft name} folder). Right click on the aircraft.cfg and select open with... and open with notepad. Scroll down to the lights section and look for the light for the VC. In the example below it is light.7 [LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landinglight.0 = 3, -6.81, -19.30, 1.17, fx_navred ,light.1 = 3, -6.82, 19.29, 1.17, fx_navgre ,light.2 = 3, -25.33, 0.01, 1.08, fx_navwhi ,light.3 = 2, -6.48, -19.04, 1.17, fx_strobe ,light.4 = 2, -6.48, 19.04, 1.17, fx_strobe ,light.5 = 1, -24.20, 0.00, 6.44, fx_beacon ,light.6 = 2, -7.52, 0.01, -1.28, fx_strobe ,light.7 = 4, -8.30, 0.00, 2.70, fx_vclight, Note the fx file name (fx_vclight in the example above) Go to your FSX/effects folder and locate the fx file name. Make a backup copy of it in case you stuff up the next step. Open the original file by again right clicking and selecting open with... notepad. Using fx_vclight as an example we look for the following: [ParticleAttributes.0]Blend Mode=2Texture=fx_2.bmpBounce=0.00Color Start=100, 100, 100, 1Color End=180, 140, 100, 0Jitter Distance=0.00Jitter Time=0.00uv1=0.00, 0.00uv2=0.01, 0.01X Scale Goal=0.00Y Scale Goal=0.00Z Scale Goal=0.00Extrude Length=0.00Extrude Pitch Max=0.00Extrude Heading Max=0.00 Start messing about with the colour start and colour end values. From memory I think they are red, green, blue values in order. You can enter a value from 0 to 255. Save the file and restart FSX. Alternatively, you can change the filename in the aircraft.cfg so that instead of pointing to the nasty red light it points to a nice white light. fx_vclight is the default vc light and if you like that then all you would need to do would be to change the filename called by the aircraft.cfg.

I'm happy you found a solution. With that, I'm moving your post to the correct forum, which is -oddly enough- Aircraft and Panel Design... In the future please do NOT ask questions in the "Tips and Tricks" forum.

For the virtual cockpit, try using the fx_vclightwhi.fx file in your aircraft.cfg entry. If you are talking about "red light" on the 2d panel, that is controlled by the entries at the bottom of the panel.cfg file!

[Color]Day=255,255,255 // daytime panel color (white in this case)Night=200,200,200 // nighttime panel color (soft white)Luminous=255,197,105 // gauge background color (sort of reddish)

And don't forget that none of this will affect night lighting in a VC controlled by any panel_L type textures, found in the plane's texture folder. If the red color comes from those, you would need to edit those textures. Hope this helps,
