January 20, 200422 yr I'm looking for a recommendation for replacement water textures and have found some in the library by various authors. I realize that the "best" is a matter of personal taste, but I would like to hear your opinions.--Tom________http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg------------SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS------------ Dell Pentium 4 at 3.2GHz with 800MHz FSB 1GB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM at 400MHz 128MB DDR ATI RADEON 9800 Pro 21 inch P1130 FD Trinitron CRT Monitor 120GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive Sound Blaster Audigy 2 with DVD Audio WindowsXP Home Edition with Microsoft Plus! January 20, 200422 yr Hi Tom,I have tried nearly all the releases of water textures over the past few months. The one that I use and consider by far the best can be found here:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=Root&DLID=42746Give them a go and see what you think.RgdsAidi
January 20, 200422 yr BTW I recommend you fs9wat.zip (best for me! with award) you can find it on avsim.com search files
January 20, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi, waterzone.zip will cause this problems below because of the fs 2002 oceanfx files ocean color is included. And now I start to notice color is not matching meigs area, but default match the green color. I am wonder how much others area have this issues.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=172861&page=2ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
January 20, 200422 yr for now, definitely waterzone recommended above. they rock.i "flew" out of various locations known to me from rw and the illusion is astounding. only gripe: they seem to cause some very minor stutters when there's a lot of water around and i pan around fast, especially if i cheat and replace their oceanheight bitmap with a high-resolution one. (i haven't tested extensively so i might be talking rubbish here, anyway. :))fs9wat is another kick-@$$ set. i wish somebody combined the "liveliness" of fs9wat with waterzone's "realism". :)cheers!vilk
January 20, 200422 yr Hi Tom,Try this combo first:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=163638&page=5.... and then try overwriting with the files from 'waterzone.zip'As always, do remember to back up the files that will be overwritten by those from 'waterzone.zip' to allow you to roll back, if you prefer. In all modesty ;) I'm still feeling quite chuffed having discovered this combo - works well, looks very nice in most situations and seems to be easy on frame rates. It appears 3000-5000 others (when last I checked the view count) thought so as well.Either way, you can't loose, I promise!Mike
January 21, 200422 yr I use Bill Lyon's file: fs9Watga3; the InstGACalm pack with the fs9 default oceanheightfield file. Good results; not hard on the framerates and the water doesn't get those pesky square patch thingies that tend to spoil the look out over open water. The best so far IMHO.http://www.x-plane.org/users/mgdbottled/FS9F16-34.jpg
