October 8, 201114 yr I am about to work through the above tutorial trying to understand as many detailsas possible. What I cannot figure out are some entries in the NAV RADIO SETUP.( see attachedscreen shot ) For example:Where is this number 273 coming from at DET/273 and how is it defined ?( I also include a screen shot of the London SID from Navigraph ) I appreciate your help Hubert Werni
October 9, 201114 yr Hello Hubert I have flown that tutorial several times, and although I have not really given it a great deal of thought as to me it was just another waypoint, however, on reflection I'd say DET/273 could well be the VOR bearing point, because if you look at it closely,it actually shows a degree affix. At first I thought it was a speed restriction but that cannot apply as without that reference no., how would a pilot know which waypoint is which. But I accept I may be totally incorrect. A R/W MD-11 'jockey's' input would be invaluable here. Rick Almeida
October 9, 201114 yr Hi,You cans ee the DETling VOR and the EPM NDB on the chart? Between them there is the balck line which is your route. And in the middle of that line you can read 093. It is the direction from the EMP NDB to the DET VOR. So you enter the DET VOR in the NavPage because this is one good reference point if your navigation system fails. Now you also want a line shown on the ND and the possibility to follow the LOC to that VOR. That is the reason for the 273 (93 + 180) which you should enter, because 273 is the radial to the VOR.
