More Brake Problems

Featured Replies

I have been having problems with the brakes not working using saved flights. So now (from reading other posts) I only load a flight from the 'Free Flight' screen, then load the NGX Cold and Dark panel, this seems to allow the brakes to work correctly. On my departure today the brakes were working normally, I set Autobrake '2' for the landing and the aircraft slowed down nicely as expected. On approaching the turnoff taxiway I switched the autobrakes off via the switch instead of dabbing the brakes. This time I had no normal brakes, but the parking brake worked, so I had to taxi to the stand using the parking brakes Whew.gif I really hope this is one of the fixes in SP1 as I'm reluctant to fly online with this intermittant problem until its fixed.

Just so you don't think you are alone in that issue: I normally just hit the brakes twice to disengage the autobrakes below 60 knots but yesterday I did what you did. I, instead, turned off the autobrake using the dial. I was left with the "brake" light still on and NOW it would not respond to my hitting of the brakes. Finally, I had to apply parking brake on and off to disengage the brakes. Of course by then I was stopped dead in the middle of the runway! From then on, however, the brakes worked normally. My problem was somewhat the reverse of what you experienced but caused by the same procedure: using the switch instead of hitting the brakes to disengage. This may not be something that PMDG is aware of since it is really not the SOP according to the FCOM. My suggestion, in your case, in the future try hitting the brakes twice to disengage them as was noted in the Intro PDF. That has always worked faithfully for me in the past. As in the RW, I never move any settings (Auto-brake, Flaps, Spoilers) until I have successfully vacated the runway. I then turn off landing lights, retract flaps, turn off autobrake and shut down one engine while I am getting taxi clearance. I have noticed that the spoilers do not retract automatically when I throttle for taxi. I have to manually drop them. Do you know if this is RW for the NG or is this a bug? Maybe it is because I am taxiing with only one engine(?)

I had NO brakes what so ever after landing. crashed into the terminal, tried to use reverse to slow down but at the end I crashed. This does not happen all the time just randomly. I sometimes use the switch and sometime the toe brakes. Just can't remember which one affects the brakes. After a 3+ hr flight it ends in disaster.
