MIP Map removal?

Featured Replies

Well i also have a Nvidia (GF4) and I have added mips to various textures. Does this ATI v. Nvidia distinction only apply to the latest cards? I ask because my textures definately look better with mips.Kind regards,

Scott,Have you de-mipped the default single-engine props already? I never fly them personally, and only use them as GA AI - if the performance is really better, would you consider uploading the de-mipped textures? Thanks!sg

Sure, I wouldn't mind uploading the de-mipped textures, but for all the default aircraft, someone already did that one. I've been trying to do this on the Archer, Carenado's Centurion, and other planes I have in my hangar that don't look good with my current settings. If you'll let me know what you're looking for, and I have it, I'll give it a shot. Never pulled it off before, but I'm willing to try. Got grad school tonight, but maybe this weekend I'll get it to work. In the meantime, you might search for "default" in the repaints and modifications folder of the AVSIM library. The 421 has de mipped DXT3's that rock and all the defualt's have been modified. I'd really like to fix our Meridians. I know you have one too!!!

Off to the (AVSIM) Library! There was another site that had a meridian fix...and a metallic grey paint scheme that I saw. I've got the file on a CD somewhere. I'll dig it up tonight. It was called an upgrade or something to that effect, had sharper VC textures, sharper 32-bits and this grey paintjob. Keith was the guys first name...I'll get more info for you soon.Good luck with that grad school thing. Don't let it cut too much into your sim-time.Best,sg

If you remember a DXT3 texture kit for the Meridian with no MIPs, that would be really handy. As for the grad school bit, I now only get to fly on the weekend, bad news as I've got a ton of toys to play with. It's hard to decide which one to ride in!!!!My hangar:MeridianNavajoCheyenne IIIArcherCessna 210 CenturionCessna 310Cessna 421Bonanza V-35

I could lead a horse to water - if I could find the water!I think the files you're talking about are Tony Gould's texture fixes to repair the blurry out-of-the-box textures? Makes no direct reference to removing the mips...Maybe I'm just numb...wish it was Friday.sg

I thought the blurries were caused by the MIPs! Am I totally brainless or what? Isn't that what you do to fix the blurries?

Could be that's right and the details regarding how the textures were sharpened were just omitted from the file description...?Also, can't find the meridian files. I've got the paint scheme installed - but I'm not going to share it not knowing who to credit. I distinctly remember that the author was unhappy with the default textures, and the VC so he had a website with "upgrades" for a bunch of planes besides the meridian. The meridian file had a modified panel.cfg to remove the reality xp gauge too - didn't use that - love the rxp stuff. Anyone have any reference to this page?Scott, email me directly if you want: [email protected],sg
