October 12, 201114 yr Whenever i fly a helicopter, it seems impossible to stop them from either pulling to the left or right (every 2 seconds ajusting rudder etc) is this normal or is there a fix for this?cheers guys+ Dylan Leonard
October 12, 201114 yr Try hovercontrol. I think they have some tips and some config files that make choppers easier to fly. October 12, 201114 yr It's the normal behaviour of the vast majority of helicopters: The torque of the engine causes the fuselage of the helicopter turn in the opposite direction to the rotor, which is why the 'tail rotor' is also often referred to as the 'anti-torque rotor'. As your forward speed increases you will find that you can roll off the throttle somewhat owing to the increased lift gained from forward motion, which will reduce the need for tail rotor corrections, and the airflow on the fuselage at higher speeds also serves to keep the thing straighter than at low speed, but the fact is you are pretty much always going to need to apply some tail rotor input of some kind when flying a helicoper; the trick is not to over-control, you generally only need to adjust things gently unless you are making large throttle changes. Flying a chopper is much more of a hands-on (and feet on) affair than it is with a fixed wing aircraft. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
