RC with PMDG NGX

Featured Replies

RC seems to work well with PMDG's 737NGX but today after saving a situation, I tried loading the ".RCD" (after starting FSX, loading the saved situation/flight and then starting RC) but the RCD file was not there. Is there anything special that I need to do when saving a NGX flight with RC ? Over the years, I have saved many PMDG-747X flights with RC but this is my first save attempt with the 737NGX. Thanks,Zach

Look for a possible key assignment conflict in the NGX. You can select another key combo in RC if there is a conflict. Have you looked at the contents of your flt/wx folder which is also your FS plan folder? Is RC started with a shortcut set for the program level property to run as admin so it has write access to that folder? That is probably not the issue since the 747X rcd is saved so see if any additional key assignments are added with the NGX. In the FS menu bar there is a PMDG option and then you can choose key assignments to look at from there.

>>Look for a possible key assignment conflict in the NGX. You can select another key combo in RC if there is a conflict.I don't understand what you mean by this.....conflict in what function ? Even if there is a conflict, a "save" should work, right ? It's not that a RC function is not working. >>Have you looked at the contents of your flt/wx folder which is also your FS plan folder?Yes, multiple files for this saved situation/flight but no ".RCD" file. What am I looking for ? Zach

First open RC and check the setting for Save State. The default is ctrl-shft-; . Then see in your PMDG NGX key assignments this keystroke combination is used. Maybe in the installation of NGX added hot keys for PMDG models were added. Start FS. then you should find in the menu bar for it a PMDG item to click. In the dropdown there should be a key assignments line to click. See if that same keystroke assignment is used. The manual for RC states to use ; which is the default FS save state but without the RCD file. PMDG has its own method of saving the state of its complex models which goes beyond the standard FS model features so I'm wondering how everything was restored before in the PMDG advanced aircraft. See the PMDG wiki or forum here on AVSIM. You can also just try changing the keyboard assignment in RC. See what happens.

did you click the .flt / .wx button, and defie the path where the .flt and .wx files are strored? you can also click the button and verify what you have entered is correct? if that's not it, creae a log, instructions are pinned to the top make a log, where you save the .rcd and one where you try to load a rcd send them both, zipped up. jd

OK, I will try some different key combinations and see if that works but for now FYI, CTL+SHIFT+; is set for the SAVE command. I never changed it because I never had a reason to change it. Per the RC manual, the FSX SAVE command or ; should work and it always did with the 747-400X. I also checked the KEY COMMAND definitions in the NGX and neither CTL+SHIFT+; or ; is in use. RC has and continues to run with Administrator privileges as does FSX. Zach

I will send you the log as soon as I have some time. I did not click the .flt/.wx button because I had no reason to- still using the same path I always did. FYI, the flight for which the RCD file is not being saved, the following files are there:.FLT.FSSAVE.WX.PLN.RC4 Thanks,Zach
