October 21, 201114 yr Maybe since I've had experience with other types of jets/turboprops that had manual control of the packs, I understand this. How would you guys describe the mode if it isn't auto? Matt Cee
October 21, 201114 yr Compare it to ALT HOLD on the autopilot. You manually select the altitude you want, let's say 7000'. If the plane drops to 6980', the A/P says, "Hey, we're low, tell the elevator PCU to move up a bit." You could move the yoke manually, but you're letting the A/P do the work. Now let's say you want to keep the cockpit at a certain temp. You manually select the temperature you want, let's say 70.00F. If the temp drops to 69.80F, the Temp Controller says, "Hey we're, cold, tell the trim air valve to open up a bit." Matt Cee
October 21, 201114 yr Thanks for the input Matt, I'm very definatley still in learning mode. So its a automated climate control system wherein the pilots dial in a desired temp, not a spectrum where "C" is the coldest possible output and "H" is the hottest.-Nate It is a spectrum. 18-30. And it is automated. Matt Cee
October 22, 201114 yr Author Have you cancelled the Master Caution on the FO side ?Then......................select a lower temperature and press the trip reset button. Thanks Jason. Just had the zone temp again and your help fixed it this time. Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!
October 23, 201114 yr I seem to get zone temp increases every time I fly, its become part of my startup procedure to twiddle the temp selectors once I have started the engines to avoid this reocuring, what I'm wondering is if its because I'm not doing.something correctly or if its the way the real aircraft operates or if its a bug in the ngx itself, has to be one of the three options, but which one? What hf version you on?Do you run the apu and packs on with doors open for some time before start? What's the temp at the field you departing from? A simple way to think of auto feature which is how most car aircon works(although the way air cooled/warmed is different) is if in your house you put the gas fire on, although you can turn it up or down in essence the room temp you have no control over, it will continue to get warmer in room. If you had Auto feature, then it says I want it to be 21 degrees and the system automatically turns your fire on and off, or opens windows to keep room at 21. If it wasn't 21 then all windows be shut and fire would turn on and be at highest setting. Regards James Carr
October 29, 201114 yr JC75, yes i am running the APU with the doors open and packs on, set for normal ground operation, packs on isolation valve max open and the 3 bleeds open (apu eng1 and eng2) the temps are variable as this issue happens every single time i fly so there are too many to quote. i do understand the fundamentals of how the temp selector works, i find that after engine start a little wiggle of the temp selectors prevent the issue from happening i just wondered if i could drop the little wiggle before every single flight.
