  1. I have just rejoined this thread after a long time "under a rock" I am so sorry to hear about your brother Mark, I was there when the NGX was first released and I remember clearly the feeling I had when I first stepped into that aircraft. PMDG had done such a terrific job when I saw there was an enhancement I didn't think it could be done but Steve really raised the bar to the overall feeling of the sim. I never knew him other than the work he had done for the NGX and a few forum posts, but he was an integral part of my flightsimming for a long time, I had a terrific amount of respect for him and he will surely be missed by all in our community. I express my deepest condolences to you and your family. rest in peace
  2. been looking forward to this for a while now, glad to hear its on the horizon
  3. nice video once again doogie keep em coming!
  4. I've got the md11 training from aoa and I found it to be fantastic, I had flown the md11 for a bit before I bought it and thought I had it down but my eyes were opened to a whole new level of systems depth, properly doing procedures and flight planning. Completely satisfied with what I recieved.Onto the ngx training, before the ngx was released, aoa said "training will be available from day one" now this I was stunned by I mean, how are they going to make the vids without the plane, I thought they must have done a lot of prep work for the whole set of vids and once the ngx was released they would fill in the blanks. After the ngx launch yes you could give them your money when they said you could, but for an incomplete product. How would you feel if PMDG said hey the ngx is realeased give us your money, but all you got was the landing gear... Hypothetical and exaggerated of course but you see my point. It's now been quite a while since the release and the training is still incomplete, why say yeah here's your training you paid for, ill give you the rest of your product when its done.I am a huge fan on aoa, they really are the leaders in flightsim cbt and I really did enjoy their md11 training, but I don't think ill bother with the ngx for the simple fact that you don't release a product until its done! (the PMDG way!) Who ever said get a printed copy of the fcom, brilliant idea! I might just do that instead!
  5. i just came across the post i was talking about in the westjet forums, credit goes to Shane Walker, thought i would update here :)
  6. A good way to work out the ammount of baggage your passengers take I read on a forum (cant remember which) but essentially;Passengers: 140 x 1.2 (bags per person)Ammount of bags: 16825lb per bag: 4200For working out how much to distribute between the forward and aft compartments, you want 40% in the forward cargo hold and 60% in the rear so in my example this would be:Aft. 2520lbs (4200x0.6)Forward 1680lbs (4200x0.4)This is the method I use every single time I fly the ngx, but I do not take credit for this as I say I read it in a forum. it works wonders having a realistic payload! You can load these exact figures into topcat vroute fsc and so on you can get a really acurate fuel load and loading it in the ngx is very easy and well done thanks PMDG! With these weights you should be pretty close to maximum range on a good day (wind, temps and so on)
  7. Defo the top one Chris, maybe a bit bolder, thanks a million for taking these on!
  8. haha yeah "nothing like a hot cup of java to put a spring in your step and your &@($* in the john"the logojets i was looking at were Lone Star one, Arizona one, california one, Maryland one and Slam Dunk one.there are loads of logojets for swa, this may be interesting: http://www.swamedia.com/channels/By-Category/pages/specialty-aircraftit would be just fantastic if we could get a couple more of these babies! i do agree that florida one looks a bit complex though :S thanks a lot chris! keep up the good work!
  9. good job chris! i have the lot of your swa paints, really really nice, now im just looking forward to the next one, any chance of some more swa logojets? as far as i can see ive only found shamu and Illinois one
  10. hey guys, yeah my tweaks are tested from stock then setup using nick N's guide, then *******'s tweek tool then i run it through fsps from that i see a 30% increase. im only running a 2.5 processor and 4 gig ram with a 512mb graphics card but i still get reasonable frames to make it worth while using fsx
  11. I've got fsps Fsx booster and I'm getting about a 30% increase, defo worth having a look at I wouldn't fly without it
  12. fantastic video! really good quality camera as well! i wonder if new airplane smell, smells anything like new car smell...... :(
  13. yeah these sounds are spot on steve! thanks very much for all the hard work put in to these
  14. thanks steve, sounds downloaded, ill install them later tonight :) looking forward to the final version!
  15. ah chris fantastic, im currently in the 2011 version, very nice work, i cant wait for shamu to be released ;)
  16. hi ryan, im running an nvidia 9800GT 512mb, ive noticed that the livery issue is to do with which program the paint kit is packed, i brought this to the attention of our fleet repainter who repacked the livery with the post sp1 livery packer and it works fine. i do still ocasionally get this problem with some liverys from avsim that are still pre sp1.
  17. Yeah I'm hoping that as well, although I think I will be pleased enough when they release it. Judging by current standards, it looks like it will be a good one!
  18. hi kyle, im sure your system will have no bother running the ngx. ive got an e2200 2.5 ghz processor and 4gig ram on a 32 bit system with a 9500gt 512mb graphics card, and i get around about 15fps in the air, but one thing i will say about this aircraft is the overall feeling of smoothness even when the frames take a hit, i can even get the ngx into EGLL without too much sweat, its all about how you set up fsx, ive spent an awful lot of time tuning my fsx and im perfectly happy with what i get. i really do recomend you take the plunge to becoming an ngx owner! you may also find this link useful http://www.simforums.com/forums/setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it_topic29041.html it basically tells you how to set up everything, you may have to change a couple things but it will put you in the best starting point. hope this has given you a good insight! any questions just ask :D
  19. It is a very cool app another suggestion is vmm vatsim monitor its a bit like vatspy or servinfo but for your phone a search for vatsim on the Android market and it should be top of the list
  20. Hey guys thanks for a very quick reply! I do have the original pack which was the one I installed first I then found the update and tried that one and it does sound a good bit better than the original release apart from the shudder, I'm not in any hurry to get rid of the shudder it was merely a suggestion to further improve the fantastic work you have already done :) once again thank you for your contribution to our community :)
  21. hey guys, i would like to start by extending my gratitude for your hard work! thank you! your work has greatly improved the overall realism on the ground, one thing i will say is that i dont like the nosewheel shudder, apart from that everything else sounds spot on! would be great if we could get an update without the shudder :)
