Fellow Pilots, I have been wondering this for a while, and have not yet come across a post quite like this. So, do we really need to have 2D panels in the NGX? My system is not "top of the line" by any means, but I get around with frames. Would it be possible to allow us to simply turn off the 3D panels, leaving just the VC? Personally, I think 2D panels are unrealistic, and that the VC will get you as close to the real thing as possible. The only 2D panel I would keep would be the FMC for easier entries. I do not really use any of the other panels.In previous posts the developers mentioned they would be phasing the 2Ds out, but would this be a possibility for the NGX for performance purposes? NOTE: I realize the NGX is very tuned and optimized for performance, and I am not looking for a quick fix for a crappy computer. Thoughts, Ideas? Morgan W

One reason to have them I have heard PMDG specifically mention is that panel builders use some of them. That was a big reason many, but not all, were included.

There is absolutely no performance impact of having 2d panels in the sim.

If you ain´t using the 2d, it ain´t taking any resource either, more than little of ram whenyou load up the ac with it. It will do nothing to your FPS/ Leffe

Are you really going to discuss again over if 2d is really need or not.Some like it some don't, some need it some don't.PMDG choose not to do it any more... buy it or don't, there will be another 777.
