Atc menu window doesn't stay closed

Featured Replies

I can't get the atc window to stay closed. For example: atc tellsme to contact center, I'll press the 1 key and after contacting center I'll close window, but after a few seconds it will pop up again. I only want this window to pop up when atc contacts me. Standard fs atc window would always stay closed until they would contact me. Is their a way to keep this window closed until atc contacts me?Another thing I assigned a key (cntr `) to open and close atc window, but it only opens the window. It doesn't close it. Not a really big deal, I just click the X on the window. I just thought the key command should turn the window on and off. Also is their a way to add a button command on my yoke to open and close atc window?I can do this default fs atc. Thanks

If you have a registered version of FSUIPC under one of the options you can set the ~ key to open and close the window and it will stay closed. - Al

IMHO, the open window is a very useful thing, as I always know the distance to the next waypoint.

Thanks, guysAl, I don't have reg. ver, but I'll take a look at a reg. ver. of FSUIP. if this works, does this mean I can use the button function on my yoke? One way to find out is try it. Amorris, you have a good point, but I like to use FMS to view my distance to the next waypoint

I have used ctrl-X as a direct assignment editing it into the General section of FSUIPC.INI (backup first) as:AdvDisplayHotKey=88,10 You can also use the extended functions in the FSUIPC keys/buttons tab. Look for function regarding advanced display toggle or similar. I do not use the setting in the RC keystrokes assignment menu. Consider registering FSUIPC as a paid user. It offers a number of extra functions such as toggling AI off and on for a reresh, the traffic zapper function nuking stuck AI in front of you, assigning functions or keystroke macros to joystick buttons, etc. I also use some non-linear yaw calibration for better taxi control. If you are using an external weather add-on it may offer some various smoothing options in a better less conflicting format than the weather add-on alone. The RC window will hide until contacted by ATC or a waypoint change I believe. I only hide it during taxiing and ground roll for take-off for better surface vision.

Ronzie, I know this is off topic, but exactly how do you use FSUIPC to zap AI traffic. I am a paid user.

These examples are from FSUIPC 3 recent versions but apply to FSUIPC4 as well. Start FS with any flight loaded. From the modules menu click FSUIPC. To select a key stroke combo just follow the instructions illustrated on this screen shot: To program a joystick button follow the instructions in this tab screen shot: Note you also (for other functions) if you check aircraft specific then these will apply only to the aircraft you loaded in FS when you set these if desired. In the key stroke selection you first press the unused combo and then assign from the fs control drop down the desired function. In the button assignment tab you can check keys for assigning a keyboard macro output or you can check FS Control to operate a functions directly. Note that these control functions exceed what is available in FS assignments. Look also using this technique for toggling AI to zero and back to your desired percent (you set the two parameters) and other useful controls. It is best just to bring up the control list and browse the drop down to see what is available. You can review your key press settings on the right side already set up by scrolling with the Previous and Next buttons. Shown is the function to hide the RC window.

Actually you can program any keyboard key you wish, not just tilda~ Just make sure the key you select does not conflict with any default assignment. I never fly jets so I deleted the "J" from FSX (jet engine start?) and assigned it to hide/display the ATC window. I take a lot of screenies and it's nice not to have the ATC window appear in my "artwork".
