  1. Looks like you've nailed it. I've had time for only one test, but using the hotspot area worked perfectly. The Saitek eventually works, but not at the beginning of the takeoff roll. I'll probably forget about the Saitek button and just use the hotspot. Thanks for the help. Alan
  2. I have a button on my Saitek throttle. It must be set up properly because TOGA eventually appears on the display. Alan
  3. Did a search on my problem but didn't find anything, so apologize if this has already been dealt with. My problem is that on takeoff I have to press the TOGA button several times before anything happens. I have both FDs on, AT armed, and engines spooled up to 40%, then I press TOGA, and nothing happens. I press several more times, still nothing. Finally, just a few seconds before reaching V1, I press it and it takes. Everything seems normal from there. So, what am I doing wrong? Alan
  4. Jay, thanks for the tip. And Agutz, in my too flippant response yesterday I forgot to thank you for you input. All help is always appreciated. Alan
  5. Apparently no one else does either. Does the developer follow this forum? Alan
  6. I am using Navigraph 1309, the latest one. Alan
  7. Tonight I was flying from KTRI to KOSU. Nearing KOSU I was cleared for the NDB 27 approach. AIrnav.com shows no approach chart for a NDB 27 approach. What gives? Alan
  8. How about VoxATC? I was waiting to hear something re RC5, but... The silence from JD is deafening -- afraid we're going to have to move on. Alan
  9. Back from vacation, and have flown the Q400 two more times. Neither time did the fuel problem rear its ugly head. Crosswind, I wish you luck finding this elusive bug. Alan
  10. Crosswind, thanks again...very much appreciated. Alan
  11. Crosswind, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I'm at the beginning of a 10-day trip and will not be able to fly until I return. But, will do as you suggest as soon as I can. One more question: I tried reloading the fuel from the control panel to no effect, so is there ANY way to quickly set the fuel level properly? Andy, thanks for the reply. Upon a little reflection your explanation seems correct. Appreciate the help. Alan
  12. Hi to the Group! Downloaded 1.007 and did a flight from Baton Rouge to Dallas and suffered some perplexing problems. Started up FSX, loaded the Q400, started ground power, opened the Control Panel, loaded 57 passengers, ~3500 lbs of cargo, and and ~4400 lbs of fuel. Then, in the midst of the initial flows I saw an IMBALANCE warning on the Engine Display; I checked the fuel gauges and saw a total of ~8400 lbs (I loaded ~4400 lbs so where did the extra fuel come from?), and the fuel weight was grossly mismatched between the two tanks, with the left tank having about 5400 lbs and the right tank about 3000 lbs. I started the fuel transfer process, but I find the extra fuel situation baffling. Any explanations? On my approach into Dallas I used VNAV to descend from FL240 to 9,000. At that point, I reset the ALT to 6,000, pressed ALT SEL, then pressed IAS and rolled the wheel for 230 KIAS. To my amazement the aircraft began climbing. To reiterate: I was at 9,000 ft, set ALT for 6,000 ft, pressed ALT SEL and started climbing. Again, I'm baffled. Any explanations? I should say this was only my second flight with the Q400. My first flight with v1.006 was flawless, but I don't recall if I used IAS mode in that flight. Surely, in this second flight I did something wrong.... Alan
  13. Thanks, will look into that. Alan
  14. I know I'm going to have to switch to X-Plane sooner or later. I would prefer to do it sooner, but I've become too used to having a moving map and an FMS type interface, even for aircraft that do not have a FMS. So, the question is are there utilities available for these functions in the X-Plane world running Apple's OS X operating system? Also, is it possible to run these utilities on a separate computer from the one running X-Plane? alan
  15. I'm strongly considering buying WideFS for some other software and am wondering what effect this might have on RC4. I don't intend to move RC to the client computer, at least not anytime soon. So, is there anything I will need to set up or do differently on RC with WideFS installed? I know that when you update the scenery data with makerwys.exe it asks if this is a WideFS configuration? Would I answer yes if I'm still running RC on the FSX computer? Thanks for RC. It has made flight simming much more enjoyable. Alan
  16. JD, Appreciate the response, and apologize for the long, long time delay in responding back (vacation, etc). But, no, I never do 2x or 4x speeds, and I never ack and contact. In short, I'm doing just what you say: ack, change the frequency, choose 1 on the new menu. At least on my system, however, I strongly disagree there is plenty of time -- I cannot do it without chastisement from the controller. I was very much hoping there was some setting I could tweak to slow the impatient controller down. Alan
  17. Ronzie, thanks for the reply, but I guess that means there is no setting for slowing down the nasty controller. Mad dog, you're suggesting I spend more money -- always a last resort.
  18. Hi, Guys. Great Product. On my last flight I thought I would add some realism and tune the radios myself. However, when told to change frequencies I could never get it done fast enough to keep from being chastised, even thought I thought I was acting with more than sufficient alacrity. The flight critique at the end even chewed me out for "not listening." So, is there any way to modify the settings to give me more time to tune my radios? Thanks, amorris
  19. Vonmar, many thanks for the explanation. I installed xgauge using Insert mode; will try again with Append mode and check my config files against your info. May be a day or two, but I will report back. Again, thanks.
  20. Got the opportunity this evening to test the xgauge installation. Still no joy. I'm at a loss here. I'm completely ignorant of how panels work, and am open to any suggestions.
  21. Got it now. I installed it in insert mode. Today's flight went off without incident. I used AS2012 with weather downloads and had no issues. Undoubtedly, my problem was my own stupidity. I thought I had updated the latest FSUIPC, but found I had not. Fixed that and had no FS crashes. Don't know if that will also fix the xgauge problem. Will try that out Tuesday evening, which is my next opportunity to fly.
  22. Vonmar: I installed xgauge when I installed AS2012 -- don't know anything about another way to install. BartEnder: I use a single 27-inch monitor. Update: I finished the last QW757 flight w/o xgauge and w/o AS2012 and had no problems. I have another 757 flight tomorrow; I will run AS2012 but no xgauge and see how things go. Will report tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your comments.
  23. Wow, a little surprised there have been no responses. On my next flight with the QW 757 I removed the xgauge and did not load AS2012. So far this flight has been perfect -- the A landing view works again and no FSX crashes. Next flight I will load AS2012 but not load the xgauge and see what happens. Would appreciate hearing from anyone else flying the QW757 and AS2012.
  24. Just installed AS2012 and am in my first flight, a long one from KCVG to MMAA in the Quality Wings 757, and I'm having some problems. First, when I clicked on the A button on the QW panel (gives a smaller panel view used mainly for landing) I found it no longer works. I get a small black rectangle in the middle of my screen on the bottom and no instrument panel at all. Pressing W on the keyboard brought back the full instrument panel. Next, I've suffered several FSX crashes. The mouse starts the Windows 7 circling and FSX will take no input -- it is completely hung up. I have to shut it down and reopen. Fortunately I save files every few hundred miles. Before the flight I installed the Xguage for all aircraft, and am wondering if it maybe caused some kind of problem with the QW. I will uninstall and try another flight, but thought I would ask if anyone else has encountered these problems, and if there is a resolution.
  25. I frequently have had the same thing happen -- RC assigns a different RW than stated by ATIS, and I do not use ASE. So, its not ASE's fault. Alan
