April 11, 201214 yr Just installed AS2012 and am in my first flight, a long one from KCVG to MMAA in the Quality Wings 757, and I'm having some problems. First, when I clicked on the A button on the QW panel (gives a smaller panel view used mainly for landing) I found it no longer works. I get a small black rectangle in the middle of my screen on the bottom and no instrument panel at all. Pressing W on the keyboard brought back the full instrument panel. Next, I've suffered several FSX crashes. The mouse starts the Windows 7 circling and FSX will take no input -- it is completely hung up. I have to shut it down and reopen. Fortunately I save files every few hundred miles. Before the flight I installed the Xguage for all aircraft, and am wondering if it maybe caused some kind of problem with the QW. I will uninstall and try another flight, but thought I would ask if anyone else has encountered these problems, and if there is a resolution.
April 13, 201214 yr Author Wow, a little surprised there have been no responses. On my next flight with the QW 757 I removed the xgauge and did not load AS2012. So far this flight has been perfect -- the A landing view works again and no FSX crashes. Next flight I will load AS2012 but not load the xgauge and see what happens. Would appreciate hearing from anyone else flying the QW757 and AS2012.
April 13, 201214 yr I will give this a try. I had used xgauge and as2012 with all aircraft and never had a problem. I finally uninstalled xgauge because the ATIS for the arrival airport would play on my AS2012 workstation which is in another room an I could not hear it. So, there a two ways to install the gauge ... which method did you use? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 13, 201214 yr Do You use triple monitor config by a chance? If the answer is yes, please resize 2D panel to a smaller one (to be precise - less tall). You will find many news how to do this in the AVSim forums Bartłomiej Ender
April 14, 201214 yr Author Vonmar: I installed xgauge when I installed AS2012 -- don't know anything about another way to install. BartEnder: I use a single 27-inch monitor. Update: I finished the last QW757 flight w/o xgauge and w/o AS2012 and had no problems. I have another 757 flight tomorrow; I will run AS2012 but no xgauge and see how things go. Will report tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your comments.
April 14, 201214 yr "Vonmar: I installed xgauge when I installed AS2012 -- don't know anything about another way to install." The manual says you can install Xgauge using the Insert Mode or the Append Mode. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 15, 201214 yr Author The manual says you can install Xgauge using the Insert Mode or the Append Mode. Got it now. I installed it in insert mode. Today's flight went off without incident. I used AS2012 with weather downloads and had no issues. Undoubtedly, my problem was my own stupidity. I thought I had updated the latest FSUIPC, but found I had not. Fixed that and had no FS crashes. Don't know if that will also fix the xgauge problem. Will try that out Tuesday evening, which is my next opportunity to fly.
April 17, 201214 yr Author Got the opportunity this evening to test the xgauge installation. Still no joy. I'm at a loss here. I'm completely ignorant of how panels work, and am open to any suggestions.
April 17, 201214 yr I do not have Xgauge installed .. but I will get it going with QW and see whats up. Give me a few minutes. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 17, 201214 yr Ok, I installed Xgauge (append mode) to the passenger QW aircraft .. not all FSX aircraft for the test. I started AS2012, FSX loaded the QW cold and dark, went to the View, Instrument panel menu, selected Xgauge, it appeared (small size), I increases the size, pressed the power button and got hte Wx info fo KDTW where I am at. This is what was added the the QW file: Panel.cfg file //-------------------------------------------------------- [Window38] size_mm=240,193 position = 5 Visible = 0 ident = 14991 gauge00=XGauge!WeatherMap,0,0,240,193 Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 17, 201214 yr I did another test today .. (too tired last night). "First, when I clicked on the A button on the QW panel (gives a smaller panel view used mainly for landing) I found it no longer works." ** I loaded QW Passenger 757 VC cockpit view. ** I see Xgauge is available in the FSX View/Instrument Panels Top Menu. I do not select it yet. ** I go the QW 2D panel view. ** I click on the QW "A" SimCon (A button) and get the landing view. ** I click on the QW "A" SimCon again and now I have my full 2D panel back. ** I select Xgauge from the FSX View/Instrument Panels Top Menu. ** The Xgauge is small size on right of panel. ** I turn on the Xgauge power button. ** I resize the Xgauge and move it around to a new location. ** I click on the QW "A" SimCon (A button) and get the landing view. ** All looks ok with QW757. Note: The first screenshot of the full panel did not show the gauge on the far right side. To see it, look at the last screenshot .. I had to add it last here. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 17, 201214 yr I do not know how you installed Xgauge. For QW there a 4 basic panels that can be used. When you install Xgauge it will show you a list of many QW possibilities to install (append mode) to. Select the first four. Then when you load your QW livery it will be one of those. Here is a screenshot of the 4 basic panels in QW. These are the files that Xgauge will update. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
April 18, 201214 yr Author Vonmar, many thanks for the explanation. I installed xgauge using Insert mode; will try again with Append mode and check my config files against your info. May be a day or two, but I will report back. Again, thanks.
