Creeping MD-11

Featured Replies

Ive noticed lately my MD11 is creeping very slowly at the gate. Parking brakes are set and throrrles at idle. Any suggestions.Alan

You can attempt to manually adjust the parking brake in the cfg file. However, real life ops, you would not be engines running at the gate.

And how do you plan to get to the gate and park there?

Ships are cooler that you think.

It's a known issue with FSX. Do a search for it throughout the avsim forums. The ground friction scalar or something like that is all hit/miss...Basically not much one can do about it.For now, park at the gate, fire up your APU, then shut down you engines. You won't creep no more.

A typical taxi for the MD-11 carries over from the DC-10 and L-1011. These aircraft with a high mounted third engine created a jet blast at the level of the terminal instead of just under the wings. This jet blast could create damage to windows, fascia, and jet ways of the terminal. As such standard terminal procedures required engine 2 not to be started until taxiing to the runway. Also required its shutdown before approaching the terminal. Why do I bring this up? Using this more realistic practice will probably fix your creeping issue as you will only have the idle thrust of two engines instead of three.

First things first, it isn't me having the creeping problem...second, you said that the engines would not be running at the gate, Well in a SOP 2 of them are on to get to the gate... Then they run at idle until ground crew attaches the ground power (if no APU is used). It just sounded very stupid with

since they actually are on some time near the gate.
