I found out that nothing is mentioned about the rotation speed. But the drive has 64K cache and is SATAIII. At any rate I have three years warranty and if it fails they will have to give me something else (right now a caviar black seems more likely) since they no longer sell the green drive.Result from HD tune
It's hard to say if IntelliPark is an issue there, but after just 8 hours of the drive being active you already have 104 head parks. How long have you had it running? can you please post the same screenshot in a week, or a month so we can check how much the Load Cycle Count has increased? It's not a drive meant for the OS, that comes from WD themselves. Do you have Windows in it? it can make matters worseIt's a drive with variable rotation speed (for power saving purporses), ranging from 5400rpm to about 6000rpm, so it's basically a 5400rpm drive. The cache size doesn't have too much to do with the drive's performance and SATAIII can't never be used by mechanical drives, it's a marketing gimmickIntellipark can hinder performance on it's own, remember it's a mass storage drive with minimum power consumption as a main goalI would seriously consider running WD's wdidle3 utility to disable Intellipark or set it to park the head after 5 minutes instead of 8 seconds, especially if you have Windows installed in the Caviar Green. Instructions here:http://www.ngohq.com/news/19805-critical-design-flaw-found-in-wd-caviar-green-hdds.htmlDoing it should actually increase the drive's performance.

No I don't have Windows on it. My Win 7 and FSX installation are on 120 Gb SSD drive. The WD is used for everything else.
