January 27, 200422 yr By chance, I found the remarkable F-16 Viper in the library (usviper.zip).. Since I already have a T-38 combat jet trainer, I was not sure whether to download yet one more airforce jet.. but I figured I can always delete it if I do not like it.. Boy, was I surprised! This thing is so real, you feel you have to pinch yourself..If you are even remotely interested in flying an F-16, download this baby and the cockpit (download instructions in the documentation).I've attached a screenshot to give you a flavor of what I am talking about.. January 27, 200422 yr Yes; that is a nice one. Whole bunch of liveries for it too. Best part is it's freeware. Big thank you to Kirk O. for that one.
January 27, 200422 yr Bert, where you been hiding? That sweet F-16 has been out for awhile now! LOLMy thanks to Kirk as well, awesome machine!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
January 27, 200422 yr I'm surprised not everyone's heard about it! I've been flying her for 6 months now!!I can tell you right now, the more you fly it the more you'll like it.Enjoy!James
January 27, 200422 yr I got addit pro last night and decided to get me some planes, what a difference ethat piece of software has made. I always dreaded downloading planes as I always got in trouble losing bits of them etc.So I downloaded the Airbus 380.......awesome......Then I found the F16 ...............incredibly awesomeEven better than the mighty Falcon 4 from Microprose. I don't mind that I cant shoot anything, just the ability to go vertical to 30k feet will do for me.You should try some low level flying through the mountains of north Wales. That is a real rush.Wycliffe
January 27, 200422 yr Yes, excellent piece of freeware. Nice VC although a big resource hog (like most high quality VC's). Now if someone came up with a different 2D panel... (the a/p on Marciano's panel is unreadable at 1024x768 as are other gauges). I also seem to have a hard time hand flying this bird. The controls are way too sensitive. I really don't think we should have to adjust control sensitivities for each plane we fly.Anyways, no bashing intended here. I agree that this has to be one of the best visual models ever uploaded as freeware to this site. My kuddos to Kirk also.Mauricio

My kuddos to Kirk also.>Since it's the aircraft, I fly most these days,I use the simplified VC (with shiftZ readouts) which allows for the highest fps I get out of any aircraft, other than the defaults. I like to travel "illegal" VFR at 20-30,000' msl across hundreds of miles of mountain ranges....... quickly, in this jet in VC mode; as the view is so open.Controls being sensitive is something you can get use to, or turn sensitivites down. I have flown many varied R/C aircraft in which you really get use to sensitive controls, as well as aerobatic real airplanes that are far different from a Cessna 172.L.Adamson
January 27, 200422 yr Author Stupid F-16 Viper tricks...Climb to a high cruise altitude (35,000-40,000) and then call for FULL throttle and pitch down. Accelerate downwards at a recoverable attitude and you will push Mach 2 or 3... once you hit 10,000 AGL perhaps, begin to level off and the aircraft will CONTINUE to accelerate to ungodly speeds - at which point you can execute a CLIMB. The aircraft will continue to accelerate to crazy fast speeds as you climb to Flight Simulator's max ceiling of 100,000 feet. Cruise cross-country at that aititude and speed while sucking gas like there is no tomorrow. I made it from Providence, RI to Burlington, VT in a *very* short period of time. Looks as thought there is a hiccup with the flight dynamics which, if you break through one parameter, it lifts some restrictions and lets you take the aircraft to unrealistic limits. :) Just be sure to have Aircraft Stress Damage turned off, lest your airplane turn to aluminium splinters.Unrealistic but oh-so-fun. :) -Greg
