Which software do i need to do some repaints?

Hi,I want to start doing some repaints.First of all Can you guys advise for a free software allowing me to do some repaints.Second: Can someone explain how to do a repaint for the NGX. i mean a light step by step tutorial.Best regards

Photoshop. It has 30 day trial. Go for it. Alos Paint.net didn't cut for me. Paint kit master file was too big.
