November 14, 201114 yr Have been Googling this but can't see any obvious solution..How can I get the river to run through Luxor (in this case) and not stop either side of the city? Thanks!Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 14, 201114 yr Hi.That's a very nice looking Luxor. Pity the river's been closeted away in a tunnel...Is it a land/water mask issue rather than the landclass? Does it show up correctly when you disable any landclass scenery layers? Can you give us a closer view? Top down would be good.Cheers,D
November 14, 201114 yr You could try Flightsim.com and look for file upregyp2.zip, (also upregyp.zip), by Winfried Orthmann correcting landclass in the upper Nile area. I used one for the whole Nile valley on my old computer, but can't find it now.Very cloudy, damp and miserable in the F'boro area still. I bet you're better off there.Colin B
November 15, 201114 yr Author Hi, thanks for the comments. Yep, BKK a better bet than Farnborough at the moment Colin!! :-)I have the upregyp2 file installed already. Will try disabling some landclass bgls and post a better screenshot if I can't make any progress.. Maybe if I flatten the entire area .....Will report back anyhow.Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 15, 201114 yr Author OK, lwm453182.bgl from upregyp2.zip causes this, in my setup anyway. Remove that file and I go from this:to this:Much better, but what is lwm453182.bgl supposed to do I wonder? Not hide the River Nile I suppose ...Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 15, 201114 yr Hi.lwm453182.bgl is a land-water mask file. It affects coastlines, lake shores and riverbanks (2-d water features rather than vector streams). It's not landclass.Go to top-down view and zoom out a little. Take a look at the shapes of water bodies with, then without the file. It may not affect much so it could be redundant. Obviously whoever made the file made a mistake.Regards,D
November 16, 201114 yr Author Hi Dave,Thanks - yes I know about lwm files - I use LWM viewer quite a bit for various reasons (useful little tool). I did look at the area quickly after removing and it looks fine - in any case, I fly over Luxor once in a blue moon, so as long as there is nothing obviously amiss, like the river tunnelling under the city, there's no problem.I can't imagine though how the developer would include lwm453182.bgl in the zip file if he saw that it was messing up the city scenery like this - which is why I wondered if it was just a problem with my setup. Does anyone else reading this post have the Ehypt scenery installed, and if so, does their River Nile disappear too?M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 16, 201114 yr Yes, mine's the same as your screenshot. I've done the same as you with the LWM file and the Nile once more continues toward the sea.Good find. Now we need a bridge or ferry to get from one side of Luxor to the other. Colin B
November 17, 201114 yr Author There is a bridge a bit upstream - in about the right place according to Google Earth, though in the countryside in FS9 rather than the city.Unfortunately the file that creates the bridge (vtp1750420_lines.bgl) messes up the little river island next to it, but you can't have it all I suppose..Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
