As far as I'm aware, you can't - the problems lies with the fact that the models are most probably not native to FSX.If you want fully FSX native AI, then you're looking at using a payware package such as Ultimate Traffic 2.Having said that, I wonder if anyone with more knowledge than me could explain exactly what it is about non-native FSX models that makes their textures turn grey, ie disappear, at long distance ?Regards

I think it's how the AI aircraft are designed, specifically the LOD used.Having them appear white at a distance helps with the framerate, especially if there are a lot of aircraft being displayed.

Not the case with UT2 AI as they maintain their textures at all distances. However, their polygon count is severely reduced to save on FPS.Regards

I'm not familiar with how UT2 works, though. I use WOAI, which is the same as what the OP mentioned that he uses. I always assumed that the aircraft turning white at a certain distance was just way that WOAI programmed them, in order to save on framerate. I may be wrong about this, though. To be honest, I would have preferred to see them maintaining their texture for a longer distance, too.
