November 19, 201114 yr Author Cadet scheme is closed till next year. Application is done through an internet form. No direct entry F/Os or DEC at this moment. Fleet is by seniority with the A330 being the most senior. 20 cadets per year and we pay 75% of training costs. Typically it takes about 6-9 years to get onto the A330 as an F/O.Capt. Rónán O Cadhain. Is that different in every airline? Like at KLM Ive seen plenty of very young F/Os on 747s! They are like 25 years of age. But speaking of seniority can you be senior in cadet training? e.g the best student? Joe Barton

May well be that in KLM, they're SO's acting as relief pilot in the 747 for long haul flights. If ya read that article that was written in the PMDG general section a few weeks ago it details most stuff about seniority in EIN. As cadets enter at the same time in groups of 20, seniority number is firstly given on ATPL results while training for us, then if two people get the same result it goes by surname. That's the fairest way we could come up with. [And if two people get the same result and have the same surnames and first names, there's a toss of a coin].Rónán O Cadhain. Rónán O Cadhain.

And more importantly how long till you get a promotion to become FO? I'm really sorry for asking so much questions but I'm really qurious about what to do when I get there Joe Barton
November 20, 201114 yr Cruise relief at EIN are actually just normal F/Os who are junior on the 330 fleet, at other airlines though they're SO's that have just entered the company. If you really want to know, read that article in the PMDG general forum, it has lots about seniority at EIN. In EIN you're considered a F/O once you complete your line training... then typically 11-14 years as a F/O until you upgrade to captain. Rónán O Cadhain.
