Aerosoft's Bush Hawk

Featured Replies

Hi All,I have and enjoy Orbix's NA scenery together with a number of it's airports. I presently have the RealAir Scout which I greatly enjoy and I am looking closely at Aerosoft's Bush Hawk since it will give me a little better performance and cruising speed which I feel would be a plus given the size of the combined Orbix NA scenery regions.I noticed the RL E350 sports the G500 as per the Performance Aircraft website.I have also read here that the Bush Hawk is a little tough on FPS and so I have several questions. How do you all feel about the Bush Hawk and its overall performance - generally speaking? Is it worrisome to you from a FPS standpoint? I believe, given my system, it should not be much of a problem for me however I consider your opinions to be very valuable. Finally, it I do decide to purchase the Bush Hawk, I would like to upgrade the avionics. I have thought about installing the Reality XP gauges into the VC cockpit to bring it up to speed, so to speak. In your opinion is that possible? Any problems that you all know of if I attempt to do that? Thanks for your time reading this! I look forward to your comments and suggestions.John

Yes, she takes a bit more from the fps value than others in her class. However, she's still nice to look at and offers things like multi stage lights and also a small damage model. Since there are all sort of variants included, she's also is very versatile when it comes to flying to fixed and water runways. The framerates shouldn't be a problem with your system. No problem with RXP GPS gauges, they fit nicely into the VC models. The knobs may be better to use in the 2D popup though.rxpy.th.jpg

Thanks CoolP. Those gauges look good installed. What do you think of her performance and handling characteristics?John

BushHawk is one of my favorite 'tuff' planes. It handles pretty well in good weather - in bad weather You will constantly move Your Yoke left and right. Elevator trim is very sensible, sound package is nice and You will have the possibility to read real manuals for some of the avionics on board. Also there are some 'assisted flights' in missions menu which will take Your Bush into some cool places (Mnt Rushmore, Alaska...).I like very much the icing effect on front window. The windows size is rather big, so You will still see the scenery beneath You (but not as much as in J3 Cub)CoolP -> would it be possible to share the panel modifications for RXP GNS?

The only downside I've found was the very pronounced need of keeping the fuel tanks level, while the rest of the plane allows a nice but sensitive feel. But I don't know her in the rw, so read that as some assumption of mine. As BartEnder said, she gives you something to work on when flying the weather.Wasn't there a high and low polygon option when installing her? I have the high one running and the fps impact was there but far away from and glass birds or something. The RXP config was nothing special, so you mainly replace the default gps entries in the two panel.cfg files. One is for the VFR models, the other one covers the IFR ones (twin GPS). It could be that I've adjusted the actual screen position though. The relevant panel.cfg file is in the Bushhawk XP - General folder. Make a backup and then edit.VFR model.

The IFR version contains two separate RXP gauges. If you only run one, maybe leave one Aerosoft gauge in place. Get the corresponding entry from your backup file. The 3D model prevents the popup clickspot from working, so use Shift-1 instead. Closing works with the click on the RXP gauge though.

That was easier then suspected. Many thanks for the panel.cfg extract.Have no idea why, but I thought it is way more difficult in VC to put other gauges there.
