I'm coming from a 4yo Q6600/Vista system so it's quite a step up for me.And before anyone asks- why AMD? I had a terrible customer experience with Nvidia years ago, so bad that I won't do business with them ever again. And, I've been very happy with my AMD cards. Thanks and Happy Saturday!

That's perfect! all the overkill you need to ###### off your other half hehe...

For God sakes, ATI card for FSX... but you have your reasons.16GB is very much likely going to limit your OC, since probably 4x4? I'd be happier with 8GB 2133 RAM, but you probably really need 16gb?Otherwise great.

Yeah, unfortunately have to have 16 for the better half. She's going to be doing some high end vid/graphics on this and that's the only way I could get her to go along. Plan is to (hopefully) get her on her own system and then change this one around for me (down to 8/2133. I have been reading on here and elsewhere).Figured you'd have something to say about ATI...wink.png . Won't bore with the details but 7-8 years ago their customer service and drivers were the worst. I'll make it work, somehow.

7-8 years ago I had ATI until I once got an Nvidia and never looked back! I was never able to get a decent AA/AF out of ATI. Well, good luck!

Yeah, forgot. Frostbyte sealed liquid, good for up to 5.2GHz

Keep in mind that it's not only about temps. Don't abuse Vcore. I don't know anything about that Frostbyte loop, but keep your temps below 80ºC and your Vcore below 1.38 - 1.4VEnjoy your new rig!

Dazz, always being so modest! I always said - I don't care if it burns - if it performs, it should do well for some time! I set my personal limit to 1.5, max 1.55, but not being comfy there. Also my chip doesn't like 5.0 that much. I set it down 4.8 @ 1.45V (for now, see how the stability is going).

Reading up on the oc now, lots to digest. Going to take that real slow and I'm sure I'll have questions.BTW Word Not Allowed, talked the better half into trying 8 of RAM so I'll get it changed to 8GB-1866 on Monday.

Take a look at the performance if you're interested in loaded Heathrow hub, online VATSIM, thread Heathrow overload... that could help you decide what is right ^^

Morning Guys,Well, it's here! Still working on setting/loading but so far I am really happy. I've got FSX, AS2012 and several of the heavies loaded and it's just smooth as butter even at stock 3.5.I'm pleased with the ATI so far, found FSXTimes site and he has a 6970 and followed his recs and I'm not seeing the usual AA/AF ATI issues, at least not yet. I'm not going to start the OC till after the holidays due to all the distractions. One thing, I forgot about running FSXMark until I had stuff loaded. Do y'all want me to still run it even though it's not a vanilla FSX anymore?Happy Holidays to all!

HelloWhen you buy an Nvidia card you do not actually do business with them directly , I hope you realise that.Still nice machine but that video card is less than optimal for FSX, but you will never experience this now , so nothing lost on your part.

Thanks. Actually, not going to get into a nVidia-ATI discussion but have to point out that I did end updealing direct with them at the time.Different strokes, different cards-makes life interesting...
