February 9, 200422 yr wow, thx Leo. I'll do that. Speaking of turbulence, I was landing at KSEA and all of a sudden the airplane went nuts on me, bouncing all over the place, argh, had to take AP off and finish up myself ( that felt kind of good, taking it off ap so that you do it right...). I was going to post on the ac2004 support boards, and thought no, I'll wait til I get some more info. Then I remembered that a 777 slid into the approach path in front of me--can you spell wake turbulence? Too cool, freaked me out at the time, but looking back it's pretty realistic, or for my mind it is anyway. Yeah, I'm liking it....rgds,billg
February 9, 200422 yr i find that AS 2004 works pretty good, It seems to work better if you use the flight planning. When I dont tell the program where im going, it seems a bit harsher with the weather changes. I think it does help with the wind gusts a bit, and the radar is pretty cool. As far as frame rates I think its a little better than stock weather. The thing I did not like was I bought the product for FS9 not 2002 and before the product upgrade. It dident work very well and then they come out with the 2004 version, and even with a discount, I feel I had to buy twice. Scottwww.bennyandthejets.comcheck it out
February 9, 200422 yr Scott,Please keep in mind that you did not get a product upgrade in AS2004, but a brand new program all together, with many more features.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 10, 200422 yr Author People should note that the FSUIPC wind supression that Leo is talking about only works for the wxRE version of ActiveSky, of which the free version is a derivative. The older ActiveSky version uses global weather, which can be controlled by FSUIPC.The newer AS2004 version sets local weather areas, along with global transitions. The severe wind shifts that everyone complains about are associated with travel from one local reporting station to another, and even Pete has said his utility cannot overcome this problem. So please don't assume that Leo's recommendation to fix the wind problems is as easy as using FSUIPC unless you are using the wxRE version.Bruce
February 10, 200422 yr Hi,How is AS2004 at doing overcast with low ceilings? As talked about in other posts, the regular FS2004 weather doesn't do too well since you can see the airport until you descend "into the clouds".Thanks,Kurt
