November 27, 201114 yr Here at ENHD the airport was still open with almost the same metar. The strange thins is that the 737's where still operating on the short 2000 m runway :/ Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
November 27, 201114 yr Just approaching EKCH in the Turbine Duke, nice and windy, great fun! Have flightradar up on my other PC, still plenty arrivals and departures there, just watching SAS 1516 abort at 1500ft and no on the 2nd attempt, landing speeds are showing 95kts ground speed lol. -Iain Watson-
November 27, 201114 yr You should have seen Dublin on Thursday, plenty of people diverting down to Shannon due to the winds and windshear, It was a nightmare, worst of all, I had to land my 330 on runway 28 with crosswinds at 28 gusting to 34 and windshear instead of runway 16.... That'll wake you up after a long transatlantic flight... Rónán O Cadhain.
November 27, 201114 yr RYR258 has tried to land at Malmo but seems to be have done 4 circuits so far, wait and see what happens. -Iain Watson-
November 27, 201114 yr RYR258 has tried to land at Malmo but seems to be have done 4 circuits so far, wait and see what happens. He shouldn't be, RYR SOP [for the record most airlines as well] require you to divert after a 2nd missed approach to the same runway..... Rónán O Cadhain.
November 27, 201114 yr When I said circuits, it looks like it was 1 missed approach then 5 holds over the airfield (Sturup) vicinity, before he went to Kastrup instead. So a cheap Ryanair flight got to the main city airport ......1st for them! -Iain Watson-
November 28, 201114 yr Author They were also ldg at rwy 30 at EKCH because of the winds. :) And at that moment the winds was from 270 so only 30degrees off of rwy 30. :) You should have seen Dublin on Thursday, plenty of people diverting down to Shannon due to the winds and windshear, It was a nightmare, worst of all, I had to land my 330 on runway 28 with crosswinds at 28 gusting to 34 and windshear instead of runway 16.... That'll wake you up after a long transatlantic flight...Hehe, well Rónán, that sounds also like one windy Thursday! The landing went well? ;) Not slamming the 330 half way in to the ground? :) hehe. And yeah, what a wake-up-call! I can only imagine the contrasts of long transatlantic flight ending with this kind of weather. - But that is what I like about being a (Commercial) pilot. You will never know what you will experience. :)I remember once during flight school, I was flying NDB app to rwy 11 at EKRK (Rokskilde, Copenhagen) in a Piper Cadet, two summer days in a row, with the same instructor. The first day, there were no wind at all, no clouds only the beautiful sun shining down. And the air was like butter, but my NDB app were all over the place. The second day, there were winds from 140 with 28 gusting winds up to 43. And my NDB app was "bang on", during the flight my instructor turned to me and said, what the h*** happend here? That I could fly this perfect in stormy conditions and not in calm air. It baffled me that I flew so good in these conditions. 737 CL/NG skysurfer
