February 5, 200422 yr One of my aircraft does not set on the ramp correctly. It is about 1/3 of the way in the ground. Here is the CG>static_cg_height=6.000I have tried increasing this number but the aircraft just falls to the orginal position. What needs corrected for it to set properly on the ramp. In 2002 I believe this was corrected in the air file but what about FS9. Thanks.KSPI
February 5, 200422 yr Open up the aircraft.cfg file with Notepad and examine the Contact Points section. The third parameter is the vertical height.. you have to change this for each wheel..(contact_points) // replace with square brackets!//0 Class//1 Longitudinal Position (feet)//2 Lateral Position (feet)//3 Vertical Position (feet)//4 Impact Damage Threshold (Feet Per Minute)//5 Brake Map (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right)//6 Wheel Radius (feet)//7 Steer Angle (degrees)//8 Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid)//9 Max/Static Compression Ratio//10 Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)//11 Extension Time (seconds)//12 Retraction Time (seconds)//13 Sound Type Bert

February 5, 200422 yr OK.. the "third parameter" is really the fourth.. since the counting begins with zero...So, in the point.1 through 3 lines, the -5.2 is the nose wheel heightand the -5.9s are the main wheelsTry changing to -6.2 and -6.9 just see what difference it makes..Point.4 etc are parts of the airplane that should not be touching the ground if you land it with the right side up.. :-) Bert
February 6, 200422 yr Author Thank you very much Bert. Your were correct and I was able to get it right. Do you have the answer for how to change the VMO. Once again changing in the air file makes on difference. Most seem to be set at 340. I would like to increase this amount slightly. You probably have the answer to this also as you seem quite knowledgeable on the subject. Thanks again.KSPIPS: How is it that most add on aircraft seem to just rename the b737_400 airfile for any given aircraft. Just what is the purpose anymore of the airfile. I have been racking my brain out because some of the setting don't seem to matter.
February 6, 200422 yr Happy I was able to help.. even if I do not seem to be able to count from zero..Regarding editing airfiles, I'm sorry to say I have absolutely no idea.I'd suggest posting in the Design forum where people like Ron Freimuth and others hang out.. Bert
