It will be better, yes. Smoother, probably not. This same setup and overclock is covered extensively in the hardware CPU forum. Basically overclocking the CPU will make a considerable difference in respect to you lowest FPS encountered.

Ok thank you sir for the reply!! I guess FSX will never be as fast as it should be due too the way it was programmed. Regards, Ciarán

An external framerate limiter can (not necessarily always) improve smoothness by minimizing the variation in your framerate. A quick search will turn up download links to the antilag limiter and the other one. It's free & may help.

Absolutely!

Yes. I suggest trying Antilag first. It does a much better job of capping FPS, though it's method of doing so can have unusual side effects. (Black screens when Alt-Tabbing) PM me if you're interested, Ciarán. I'll be unavailable until tomorrow afternoon, though.

No problem as it will take most of the day anyway :))

Hey I'm also having black screens sometimes. I've been using the FPS Limiter V0.2 by Marcus Ludolph for a long time now, but on my new system I've been having black screen every now and then. The game continues normally but there is just no screen, it's all black. I can't get out of it using Alt+Enter. I also have a tweaked FSX.cfg. I think it might be my graphics card. I hope that I can remove this FPS limiter when I get a new GPU, I hope that a new GPU (GTX580) will stop those microstutters so I don't need an FPS limiter anymore.
