"You're assigned altitude is..."

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I have been busy lately and I basically quit FSX for a while and now that I have come back, I got everything set up for a flight from KJFK-KMIA and after takeoff, I get told to watch my altitude and that my assigned altitude is and then it just stutters/freezes and doesn't say anything so I don't know what it is!Basically, I forgot to write down what was told to me at clearance but either way it shouldn't freeze up like that. Does anyone know how to fix this or why it happens? Pretty sure I fixed it before but it's been so long now and I forgot how I got it to work...

make a log, instructions pinned to the top of the forum. be sure to click debug before loading plani can't remember departure watchdogging the altitude. center for sure. if you were told to climb to something, and you're flying level, you're going to get busted. clearance is only going to give you your cruise altitude, he's not going to know any of your step climb altitudesjd

Make sure there are no outstanding acks in communication or RC will 'feeze' until you respond. When instructed to climb maintain at least 200 ft/min rate of climb. Before acking start your aircraft climbing and then ack. However do not delay an ack if you are very near crossing a waypoint for credit or RC will not see it.It is best not to let the copilot handle comms during the busy departure phase so you can appropriately delay acks. Some heavy types of aircraft like the B747 carrying a maximum load during departure are slow to respond. Be sure in RC you declare the correct aircraft class (heavy, jet, turbo prop, prop) as this affects certain items in RC. I noticed the B738 sometimes can do a brief descent before climbing so I delay the ack until V/S reaches a stable climb rate.Sometimes it is best to on your MCP go to V/S to trade climb for airspeed and watch your flaps schedule carefully. In FAA land RC does not issue speed relief of 250 kn below 10,000 for heavies but outside of that is does.If you need to step climb slower than RC's command rate for initial stages after departure, request a lower cruise altitude and then as you burn off fuel request higher altitudes in the RC flight manual.
