December 6, 201114 yr Hi I have set my switches for Stab Trim and they work well I have cockpit tips turned on but cant see to see the setting that the stab trim is? Anyone have any ideas? As when i fly it says my stab trim setting is wrong. I used to get a little box telling me what the exact setting was ie 5.04 etc etc thanks Wayne http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
December 6, 201114 yr Commercial Member I'm not sure if you should be using the default Flight Sim trim mapping. You want to use one assigned through the FMC in the aircraft. Beyond that, you can see the setting on the trim wheel next to the throttle in the aircraft.Read/fly the tutorial - it explains everything. That's what they're there for. Kyle Rodgers
December 7, 201114 yr Author Hi I think you misunderstand. I have setup my trim with reg version fsuipc however I cannot hover over the trim wheel to see what the exact setting is, thats what the tutorial says to do but the little box indictaing setting doesnt present itself. I have tool tips turned on too. Is there a setting in CDU for pmdg737? thanks http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
December 7, 201114 yr my trim is mapped through FSX and I have no issue.I have tool-tips off anyways, and the reality is you won't find a real world pilot hunting for 5.04 units of stab. trim. They are looking at the same thing you are and would probably just put it near the 5 mark on the visual index. December 7, 201114 yr The trim wheel & numbers look as in the real NG.....you can't set exactly 4.67...there is no gouge telling you the exact trim nr...just set it by eyesight. If it's a little bit off, it doesn't matter. Kind regardsR.G
December 7, 201114 yr Commercial Member Your tool tips could have been de-activated in your FSX.cfg if you've run an optimizing tool on it.Furthermore, if you think about it, if I was sitting in the cockpit looking at the trim wheel, I'm not going to be able to stare at it long enough, or put my index finger and see a floating box telling me that it's 5.09834 exactly. You have to guesstimate. It's how it goes. I understand the pilot persona is generally one with either vague or full-blown OCD, but some things you have to come to grips with. Precision on an analogue dial just isn't going to happen like it would on a digital display as in the MD-11. Kyle Rodgers
December 11, 201114 yr Author Yeah no worries understand what's the tool tip setting in cfg I'll check that out what should it read? http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
December 11, 201114 yr Commercial Member I honestly couldn't tell ya. I know after running the CFG tool on my FSX.CFG, it killed the tips and I never bothered to go find the flag to reactivate them. I don't have tooltips when I fly, I don't want to have them in my sim, either. When I was flying my round robin cross country for my private pilot's license, I actually thought to myself at one point that I should hit the 'B' key to make sure my altimeter was set properly, until I remembered where I was. That was the end of using shortcut keys in my sim sessions. Negative transfer? I think so. Kyle Rodgers
