December 12, 201114 yr I use FS9 and I have a scenery for Cochabamba, Bolivia (SLCB). I had this scenery for a long time and I used it in the past without a problem. The scenery was downloaded from LAB virtual airlines. After adding a few AI flightplans, I noticed that the AI aircraft had their wheels sunk into the scenery. "flyable" aircraft seem to do fine. Is there something I neek to "tweak" in the scenery to correct that problem, or, am I out of luck?. The scenery creator can no longer be contacted. I would appreciate any suggestions. I have enclosed a picture for your view. (I hope it shows as I attached it from my pictures file)Thanks
December 13, 201114 yr I looked at that airport, it appears to be an FS2002 airport. It has a flatten set to 2549.042, while in FS9, the airport is set to 2548.128. I think your problem will be solved by creating a "stub" airport that adjusts elevation to 2549.04 and installing that into sceneryworldscenery. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?><!-- Created by Scenery Design Engine (SDE) on 12/12/2011 --><FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd"> <Airport country="Bolivia" city="Cochabamba" name="Jorge Wilsterman" lat="-17.421083339" lon="-66.177133173" alt="2549.04M" magvar="6" ident="SLCB" > </Airport></FSData> scott s..
December 13, 201114 yr Author Thanks Scott for your quick response. I'll take a look at the scenery and I'll give it a try. I'm not an expert at sceneries, other than adding objects with Abacus EZ scenery program. While waiting for a response, I made a very quick video to demonstrate my problem, but, I'm glad you really didn't need it, however, here is that "quick video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13LQCZzQ-0s
December 13, 201114 yr Author Hi Scott,I feel so stupid. I am looking at my FS9/scenery/world/scenery folder and I don't know where to begin. Do I need "Notepad" and create a file as: "Stud SLCB" with the information you showed me in your response above?. Not being a scenery expert, not even a rookie, I feel as dumb as some first timers who post questions whose answer is really in front of their face. I'm asking a very embarrrasing HELP.Thanks
December 20, 201114 yr Hello Hernan,All that you have to do is to open Notepad, paste the code that Scott has indicated above, and save the file with an .xml extension (although I think that a text extension will work, haven't tried it in a while.) Give the file a descriptive name so that you know what it is, for example "Cochabamba altitude correction by Hernan.xml".Then, place that file in the same folder as the Microsoft BGLComp.exe tool that is in the Software Development Kit (S.D.K.), drag and drop your file onto BGLComp, and that should give you a bgl file that you must place in your scenery folder.Flight Simulator reads the altitude of the airport from the AP (airport facilities) files, and the only way to modify that altitude is by making FS read another file first before getting to the AP file. So, you must place your new elevation bgl in a folder that is lower than the normal AP files, and therefore loaded first. If you are only making one of those altitude modification files, then you can use something like the Worldscenery folder. Or you can create your own "Altitude modifications" folder, but make sure that it is below the layer with the default AP files.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
