December 14, 201114 yr Is it possbile to replace the landing lights ? I am talking about the animation seen on the fuselage (not the ligths on the runway). The light aura is not solid but is broken by an invisible square. I so wish I could replace that...While I am on the landing lights....why do the landing lights up/down commands swivel the lights sideways - not up-down like on other aircraft.I suspect some of these issues are FSX-related but this is so..so..so.. annoying.Sorry for ranting folks. I am otherwise thoroughly enjoying the MD and the NGX in FSX.
December 14, 201114 yr Try "Shockwave 3D Lights"...it is a payware add on to fix this FSX issue Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
December 14, 201114 yr Well, not sure I would call it an issue. Just lack of good looking lighting. Will is correct though and I was going to say the same thing. Shockwave lights were very popular (still are) at the time the MD11 was made. I saw how bland the MD11 lights were but also saw that as them not putting much time into something most of us were going to change right away anyway ;) i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 14, 201114 yr Author OK. Thanks. That would address the close-up issue (up to 300-400 feet away from model centre). But how do you avoid seeing landing lights showing up in mid-air about 15-20 feet in front of the nose when you are looking at the plane from a big distance (eg from tower)?Does anyody know what texture file is used for this ?Halo.bmp ?
December 14, 201114 yr That can't be fixed. It's in the core code of FSX. All aircraft do it, not one doesn't do it. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 14, 201114 yr Author Actually, it seems like the 737 NGX does NOT do it...just tried it...Here is a view of the problem with the MD-11If I disable the halo.bmp file the mid-air lights do not show. But I am not sure what else I may have broken in doing so...Hmm.........................
December 14, 201114 yr That's cool about the NGX. I haven't flown it yet but did see the cool new lighting and how it shows on the runway. So other than the NGX,,, it's normal to see them so far apart.Halo.bmp is many things. Go to airport now that you have it removed and look for runway or taxi lights. ;) i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 14, 201114 yr Author Bummer...what a screw-up....Why did they (MS) have to break something that was working just fine before...?Thanks for the feedback... :-)
