Terminal Procedures Guide

Featured Replies

I'm looking for the PDF guide that describes how to create the FMC SID/STARS terminal procedures text files. I remember there being one for the NG in FS9, but I could not find one for the NGX. Is it still the same, and can someone send me the PDF?Thanks in advance.

The same applies to NGX as NG, also 747, MD11 and JS41 use same sidstar syntax. Hopefully, there will be something new in the next couple years but for now you are good with the original Terry Yingling tutorial available in the pmdg download utilities (I think).

That is the one I am looking for Dan, do you think you could e-mail it to me? I can't find it anywhere, including the PMDG website.Thank you.

I had a hard time to and someone emailed it to me, then I found it on the pmdg site afterwards. Today, of course, I can't find it again. I can email to you, but don't know your email address.

Just a heads up, I've since found that the NGX does not use some of the coding from previous products. So far, these are the differences I have noticed:- "COLLOCATED" fix definitions do not work. I've tried defining fixes as COLLOCATED to a FIX defined in the particular airport .TXT file, as well as to a FIX or NAVAID in the waypoints.TXT navdata file. Neither worked, which also led me to the second discovery,- "NAVAID" waypoints are not recognized. Kind of makes sense really, because it emulates closer how a real FMC works, and I am guessing it was probably done to speed up the FMC a bit and reduce the complexity of the calculations needed for terminal procedures. It makes coding procedures a little harder, but I'm all for it if it improves the product. As you can see, because of the nature of the changes any new procedures you download from Navigraph are backwards compatible. Any old terminal procedures you might have used previously in PMDG products for FS9 will not be compatible for the NGX if they use either of the two terms above. Would be fairly straight forward to convert them though.Anyway, that is what I have discovered so far. Don't know if it already has been discussed, just figured I would give you guys a heads up in case you are looking to code some procedures.
