  3. Just a bit of info for you rhodges, cloud draw distance in fsx can be set in the fsx.cfg file by putting the appropriate number in place of xCLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=x1 = 40mi2 = 50mi3 = 60mi <----------------- ZERO SLIDER4 = 70mi5 = 80mi6 = 90mi7 = 100mi8 = 110mi <----------------100% SLIDERRegards,Pete Smith
  4. Toms blog is very interesting, I always pay a visit there each week.Pete Smith
  5. With affinitymask=14 in my fsx.cfg file, while at dense airports, my core0 runs at around the 20% processor usage mark, while core1, 2 and 3 run at around max.Using the cmd line shortcut above, my core0 runs at 2 to 3 % max and core1, 2 and 3 run, again, at around 100% at dense airports.Interestingly, after much experimenting this evening, using affinitymask=12 (i.e only using core2 and core3), my fps increases about 2 or 3 fps at dense airports compared to affinitymask=14. Strange but seems so with my pc. These results were found after alot of experimenting and comparing. Flying was smooth. I'm using a 4 core i5-760 running at 3.8ghzIn order of fastest fps to lowest:1. Affinitymask=122. Affinitymask=143. No affinitymask4. the above cmd line shortcut.I will use Affinitymask=12 for now and see how it goes.Regards,Pete Smith

  8. It took a bit of googling for me to find it! Seems that page is the only one with a valid link. Keep hold of it. Hope it helps.
  9. This one? http://www.simforums.../FSTscenery.zipFound link on this page http://www.simforums.com/forums/solved-scenery-cfg-file-error_topic41226.htmlwhere it says: "There is a tool for repairing the scenery.cfg and I use it all the time... its called FSTScenery.exeI cant find it so I uploaded it here: uploads/12417/FSTscenery.zip"Regards,Pete Smith
  10. Hi EdwardI've been using your FSX MyConfig app for a while now. Its very useful indeed. I have a few individual setting profiles set up and they work wonders. Its no problem to simply put the letter "A" where its needed before starting FSX. I created a bat file to start MyConfig, my ATI Gaphics card FSX settings, TrackIR, and finally FSX. all with one click of the mouse. Thanks for your time and effort in making this app. Much appreciated.Regards,Pete Smith.
  11. I second what Jeff just said. Thank you Dan.Regards,Pete Smith
  12. Thank you for this. I did not realize that settings other than TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD were changed back to a default setting upon tinkering with FSX display settings. I will try your program and replace the texture max load editor software that I currently use.Regards,Pete Smith
  13. Still waiting for your yay or nay Chris :smile:Mines a yay.Regards,Pete Smith

  15. Bit off topic I know but i had to correct an issue concerning EZCA, this is a quote from the developer: "The v2 will be free. you can purchase 1.17 now and have free upgrade to 2.0 in future." You can find the quote here, dated October 13th 2011http://www.simforums.com/forums/ezca-20-wish-list_topic38545_page3.htmlRegards, Pete Smith
  16. Its the water textures that take the most time to replace, simply uncheck the water themes in the options dialog to stop REX loading them in each time. Speeds up the process.Pete Smith.
  17. Download the "Seth - Flight" TrackIR profile (Seth - Flight.xml) from here:http://forum.natural...38618#Post38618Give it a try.Regards,Pete Smith.
  18. Hi Using Ultimate Defrag 3, I would choose FOLDER/FILE NAME defrag method to defrag the drive you have FSX on (best installed on a different drive to your operating system).Click on settings and choose "Custom" in the High Performance section. Click "select files" and tick your FSX installation folder, move it over to the right hand pane using the << symbols. Click ok. Back in the High Performance section, click on the "Strict placement, sorted by" option and then select "Folder/Filename" option from the pull down menu next to it. Leave it as "Asc". Importantly, click on the Options button next to the Folder/File Name back in the left hand pane and tick Respect High Performance (but luncheck Complete High Performance Then Stop). Check "Respect Archive" (but uncheck Complete archive then stop). Check Put Directories Close To MFT. Click ok. Defrag it this way and you will see an outer section coloured Purple. This is your high performance data. Doing this will move your FSX installation onto the outer part of your HDD and sort it alphabetically by "folder/filename" which will speed things up.You can also do the same for your Windows and Program Files folders too. The Archive option is to defrag any other data that you may not use too often. Hope this helps. Pete Smith
  19. You could pop over to the FSUIPC or Saitek forum and pick their brains. I can't see any way of setting it up with the saitek throttles though, as the "reverse throttle" is a button press on this hardware, as you know. Please post back if you do manage to find a solution!Good luck,Pete Smith
  20. Ah, sorry, I misread your question! I hope my info is of use to someone though. Sorry I didn't answer your question properly. I don't know the answer to that one.Pete.
  21. Hi GavinThis is how I have reverse idle set up with my saitek throttle quadrant through FSUIPC:Under the 'Buttons and Switches' tab, activate the "button" on any one of the levers you have assigned for throttle thrust (for example, the Engine Number 1 lever which is the left-hand one my case) by pushing the lever all the way down. You will see FSUIPC register it as a button press. In the same 'Buttons and Switches' tab of FSUIPC, click "Select for FS Control". Then, from the drop-down box, select the control assignment you want. If you want ALL the reversers to engage, choose "Throttle Set". If it's for a single engine, like Engine Number 1, select "Throttle 1 Set" (or "Throttle 2 Set" for Engine #2 and so on). THEN, set the parameter to -16383 (note minus/negative sign before the number). That parameter represents the absolute IDLE position in FSUIPC's axis assignment/calibration. Then add Throttle1 Cut to the "Control sent when button released" and again add the parameter -16383. Do the same for all throttles. DO NOT tick the control to repeat while held tick boxNow just pull the throttle lever(s) down to the bottom and reversers will activate. To deactivate, just pull them back to the throttle's actual idle detente.Works fine for me.Pete
  22. Dan, I've just been to your website. I have always imagined you as a church-going, non-gambling teetotaler. How wrong was I ha ha!Regards,Pete Smith, UK
